Question about Dell Latitude D600 Notebook
When I close my laptop to put it to sleep it sometimes does not start up when I open it again. The screen is black and unresponsive but I can tell it is on because I can hear it and the green power symbol is lit on the right "hinge." To fix the problem I have been holding down the power button until it turns off. After turning the computer back on an error message pops up from windows saying it has experienced a serious error. Is there something wrong and if so what can I do to fix it?
Check your laptop's energy savings settings are on. It might be set to go into hybernation after a certain amount of time. Also, have you tried pushing and releasing the power button instead of holding it when it does this? By holding the power button down until it turns off, you are causing a "hard" shutdown, which means it is by-passing all of the normal shutdown operations and can cause an error message to pop up when you boot it back up. Let me know if this helps!
