Hi,

If you have power to the dishwasher (breaker is okay and outlet are good) then the most likely suspect is the thermal fuse. You will need to open the console by removing the top screws and the next screws down from the inside door panel. With the console open, you will have to remove the black cover on the right side by prying up gently on the tab on left of it. This will expose the circuit board, the thermal fuse is located on the top of the board in a little bracket, it has two wires going to it. You can take the fuse off and test it with an ohm meter. An appliance parts retailer should have an ohmmeter if you do not.

Let me know if you have further questions.

Thermal Fuse

Item #2986 (OEM Part)
$10.70

Thermal fuse. If the dryer overheats, this device stops the flow of electricity to the heat source and/or the entire dryer. It is located on the blower housing and cannot be reset. The most common cause for overheating is a vent tube clogged with lint, a birds nest or other debris.

No lights on, didnt complete the drain cycle, stopped working now

There is a thermal fuse located in the control panel inside the door. It could be blown, but if so what caused it. they come with a retrofit pigtail to prevent loose connectins on the fuse. You may have a short somewhere in the dryer, and just blow the fuse again. Could be bad motor, fill valve, or heater, or even the control board. I'd try one fuse first.

My lakewood oil filled heater model 5600/7 just stopped working. It won't turn on..no lights. There is no history of tipping over.

The reason that it stopped is an open circuit. It is probably a blown thermal fuse. However, it could be any of the following if that is not the problem:

bad switch, broken or disconnected wire, burned open heater element, bad connections between terminals and wires, or between wire connectors and the wires within them.

If you take it apart, you will find the heat sensitive thermal fuse device under the heating elements, near the bottom of the unit. If the thermal fuse is good, it will appear as a short to an ohmmeter (zero ohms). If it is failed, it will appear as an open (infinite ohms).

The thermal fuse device can be replaced. Here is where to get one:

The thermal fuse may be this one, but check the temperature indication on yours first: Item#: TH-TF167C

Good luck.

Have a roper ax6245 - cold water will not shut off even with washer turned off - HELP

Hello,Sounds like a problem with either the inlet valve or the pressure switch, the way to determine which is bad... while the machine is filling pull the power plug..if the water keeps filling it's the inlet valve that is going to be bad..if it stops filling it's going to be the pressure switch. The pressure switch is located in the control panel and has a small rubber pipe attached.once you have figured which it is replace it good luck.
If you have any other questions or concerns please feel free to comment again..Mike

Frigidaire Washer GLTF530DS0 motor doesn't run ohm test ok

could be a thermal fuse that has blown that protects the motor.Does your washer fill with water and set there? If so its probably your door or lid switch. There is a quick way to find out unhook door switch and connect wires together with electrical tape then try the washer. If it works replace the bad switch

Maytag LSE7806ACE dryer stopped working

pry the top up at the corners and remove attaching screws for the front panel and remove carefully. Now you should be able to see the canister that contains the heat element and the thermal fuse. If your thermal fuse is bad you also need to replace the high limit thermostat switch which is located on the canister itself and check that the heating element is not broken anywhere throughout the coil.

Blowing high limit fuse

My dryer stopped working, using a multimeter I determined that the thermal fuse was open. I unclogged all the ducts then ordered a high limit thermal kit. After changing the fuse, it blew-up on the first cycle. It turns out that even though the high limit checked ok, it was defective. After changing both the fuse and the thermostat(included in the kit $25), the dryer worked correctly.

Washer stopped working

Sounds like an electrical problem, but it can be in any of 3 (or 4, depending on the washer) totally different areas:

1 - The timer could be defective, not sending voltage to the motor.

2 - The motor could be defective.

3 - Something in the wiring (or a fuse or circuit breaker inside the washer) could be defective.

4 - If it's a computer-controlled washer, something in the computer could be defective.

Unless you're familiar (and comfortable) with working with live (110 volt) wiring, have and know how to use a test light or meter and have a schematic diagram of the washer (most of them have schematics on the inside of one of the panels) - and know how to do signal tracing, I'd leave it to a repairman. Electrocution, even if not fatal, can run up some huge medical bills (like from a shattered elbow, when you involuntarily pull back from the wire, and there's a wall stud in the way).

Washer constantly fills with hot water even when turned off.

Sounds like a bad mixing valve. To verify that it is the valve you need to turn off the washer when it is filling. If water keeps running, replace the valve, Cost is under $50. for most washers.
