I would like to switch back to the original mode, which is RC1.

  • npmargie May 03, 2010

    Sal,

It is the original remote that came with the DVR. I was scaninning through the options and moved to RC2, but I did not press enter. When I tried to revert to the main menu, it would not let me do so, I was afraid to press enter when it didn't allow me to go back to the main menu, so I unplugged the unit because I did not want RC2 as my remote option.

    Thanks.

    Marg

The manual does not list any thing about remote modes. It only lists recording modes. Is that what you mean? If not then please tell me what is the procedure you have followed to select the current mode and I will help you out.

Thanks for the info. I think I know what you did. In order to make the remote operational again keep the player plugged in and turned on(even though not functional). Press and hold "Enter" and "1" for about 3 - 5 seconds. That should do the trick and remote control should become operational. If that does not work try Enter and 2. One of these must work.

Glad to hear that. However I would like to know which one of them has worked so that I can guide future customers better.

    Cheers,
    Sai.

When i push the buttons on the remote it keeps saying set 1

The remote is probably set to another command mode (for example, SET2, DVD2 or RC2 depending on the model unit) or the batteries were replaced recently, so the remote needs to be reset. You can try this: take the batteries out of the remote (as if to replace them), press any button to clear the remote's buffer, then re-insert them. Point the remote at the player, then press and hold 1 and ENTER/OK buttons together for approximately 10 seconds, then release. This should restore the remote's function back to your player. This 'remote reset' must be done whenever the batteries are replaced, otherwise either the remote will not function correctly, or the device will not recognise it.

Very simple, takes a few seconds or so, and costs nothing to try.

Universal Remote says ''RC2'' for DMR-EZ27

Question (s): The remote control for my DVD recorder has stopped working. Every time I press a button, the display says "CHK REMOTE 1", "RC1" or "SET1". What is wrong? Answer/Comments: Your DVD recorder remote control can be programmed (with different codes), so it can be used with multiple Panasonic DVD players. When you press a button and the display shows [CHK REMOTE #] or [RC#] or [SET#] it means that the DVD recorder and the remote control are not set to the same code.To set the remote control code to that of the DVD recorder, press and hold [ENTER] as well as the corresponding code number on the display (1, 2 or 3) at the same time for more than 2 seconds.

I figured out, unlike all the other posts, you don't have an enter button. But Instead, you would hit the 2 and OK button at the same time for a few seconds. I had the RC1 message and I did the 1 with OK and it worked. so if you have RC2, you should hit the 2 and OK. Should work!!

Read the manual. Using Panasonic remote hold the enter button down and #1 or #2 for at least 2 seconds until you find the right code combination for the remote and unit.

Your DMR is telling you that it is set to listen for RC2 but your remote is transmitting RC1.

Two choices for a fix:

1. Put the remote back into RC2 mode by simply holding both the ENTER and 2 button for at least 5 seconds.

OR

2. Reconfigure the DMR to listen for RC1 by going into the function menus and selecting SETUP. Look for the remote control option. Change it to 1, it will currently display the value 2.

Enjoy.
