HP Photosmart C6280 All-in-One making weird noises

Hi. I have an HP Photosmart C6280 All-in-One printer-scanner-copier. It jams up all the time and I have to remove the back panel to get the paper out. Ever since the last paper jam I cleared, it has been making awful, rattling noises when I print, like the gears are stripping out or something, plus there is a squeak, too. I've only tried printing a handful of times since then and the paper was moved through the printer like normal. And it printed fine at first, but then the pages became so light that they were hard to read. I did a self test that showed all colors printing fine, but the black print & ink sample had streaks throughout the page. I've tried turning the printer off and back on again. I've also tried uplugging it for a while. I've tried cleaning the printheads. I've also tried to realign the printer. But, it still makes those awful noises everytime I try to print. Is this printer done? Or is there hope for it? Please help!

This is hope, i had this problem once. what it was was a small piece of paper that was caught in the rollers. i know you said this, but check again, I am almost positive this is your problem
lastly, check the black cartridge, take it out make sure nothing is stuck to the ink dispensary for clear printing
hope this helps and good luck

Why do i have a false jam reading?

I understand that you're receiving what you believe to be a 'false' paper jam on your HP Photosmart C6280 All-in-One Printer. I would like to work with you today with resolving this issue. Paper jams can be real or false. The product might report a paper jam even when there is no jammed paper. A false paper jam may also be the result of having a bad paper jam at a point in time and that bad jam causing a hardware issue to the paper sensor or rollers. I am going to provide you with some additional troubleshooting steps that apply to both real and false paper jams. You did state that you already checked the paper pathway inside the printer and failed to find any evidence of paper being stuck, but please run the step-by-step troubleshooting below, even if you have already run some of the steps.

Here are the steps for clearing the path:

Paper jam cleared--rejams every time. Paper

Parts do wear out. Sounds like perhaps some of the gears for the paper rollers or paper shifters may be worn out. All I can suggest would be to take it in for a Service tech to repair or replace the printer, depending on the cost. Sorry.
