Try right clicking the icon and select properties.
Check the "Target" area. It should contain the file's directory.
The address should be COMPLETE for example "C:\Program Files\AVG\AVG2015\avgui.exe".
The directory "C:\" depends on which hard drive your file is and the file format like in this case is a program should have ".exe" at the back. If any of these is missing your short cut will not work.
You should also check on the compatability of the file / program with your OS.

Blank page

I believe you are talking about short-cuts on the desktop.

If you have the program on the Start Menu you can copy the shortcut there and paste it into the desktop to restore the icon.

If the icon produces blank pages, it may have been a program that required a specific command to install it. Once you have deleted it, the only way to restore the icon properly is to re-install the program and tick "put short-cut on desktop".

Accidentally removed all screen icons and cannot find out how to replace them.

If all you did was delete the icons from the desk top restore them is possible.
First try system restore. Go to START, HELP, type System Restore and follow the instructions. Restore your system to a point in time when the icons were there, say one day earlier this week.
Another way is to go to START, select the program you want to have on icon on the desktop, right click and hold on the program, drag it to the desktop release and "create short cut here"
Hope this helps. I do this for fun & feed back not $$$

I could not get my sylvania netbook to connect to my wifi so i download the update from their website to a SD card then opened on the netbook and it deleted everything on the netbook. how can i restore it...

I do not know why your icons disappeared by running the Download, but your programs are still in the on board ROM memory and what you are missing are your desk top icons. I have tried to duplicate your download problem but so far have not been able. I know that using a SD card will not download a usuable file so I used a thumb drive.

Any way please read the following solution that I wrote to another poster.

If you have deleted the icons for those programs on your desk top, then they may be in your Recycle trash bin. double click on Recycle Bin look for the icon for recorder, right click on recorder and select restore. You really cannot delete the programs from your machine as they are retained in a ROM chip , hard coded into the chip and are loaded each time you cut your machine on. The only thing you can do is delete the icons on the desktop, which are sent to the recycle bin.
To retore the machine to factory settings, there is a small hole just about an inch down from the data plate on the back. Using a pencil point or a straightened paper clip, insert the bject into the hole and hold for about 5 seconds. Your deleted icons are not replaced.
A second method to restore your icon is to click on my computer right click on the recorder, select copy, dismiss my computer, find a blank spot on your desktop and right click on that spot, select paste, and a dos type icon appears as your recorder button. When you cut the machine of and back on the Dos type icon is replaced with a CE type icon
To restore all icons:
You can: If you can click on start, click on run, type desk top into the open space and ok it. your icons should be shown. you will have to copy and paste each one back to your desk top, or select edit and then select select all, then click on file, select send to, and select desk top as short cut. My laptop acer aspire5920 is not shutting down due to removal of my shutdown file from my laptop due to unknown reasons.

Hi dear,
Create Icons for Shutdown and Reboot If you find it annoying to access the Start Menu for shutting down or rebooting the computer, create a shutdown and reboot icon for the desktop.
Desktop Shutdown Icon Right click on the desktop
Click [New] [Shortcut] to open the Create Shortcut Wizard
Type [shutdown -s -t 00] without the brackets.
Click [Next] and type a descriptive name of your choosing for the shortcut
Click [Finish]
Add a bit of class to the shortcut by assigning it a custom icon. Right click the shortcut, click [Properties] and select the [Shortcut] tab. Click [Change Icon] and select from the icons that are displayed.
Desktop Reboot Icon Right click on the desktop
Click [New] [Shortcut] to open the Create Shortcut Wizard
Type [shutdown -r -t 00] without the brackets.
A Final Note: If you happen to be as fanatical as I am about having nothing on the desktop, drag the new icons into the Quick Launch area of the Taskbar.

then use it.

if not resolve it

then use following step ;-

click on start then go to RUN and type SFC /SCANNOW
press enter
this command recover all windows lost files, if it will ask windows CD then enter the windows disk.

bye take care
good luck

Acer cystal eye webcam

hi that would be simple if you find the folder in which the web cam icon is located right click on the icon scroll down to send another window should open up on the side then click on desktop(shortcut) this should put the icon as a short cut on the desk top.
NB:
the icon that you right click on must be the icon that acesses & activates the crystal eye web cam.

hope this solves your problem.
