You can call a parts store such as marcone or a.p.wagner and they can order you the part and mail it directly to you

Part number G7102 if a defrost heater from a GE side by side refrigerator. It approximately 12 inches in length with a glass body and plastic ends for wires to clip into. When the refrigerator enters defrost mode, current is sent to the unit where it generates heat similar to a heating element (thus defrosting the coils). It can be tested by checking the resistance between the two electrical leads (OHM). You will need to determine the proper resistance for a good part, but a reading of open (1) or closed (0) usually indicates the part is bad. Also, check if the elements are obviously burnt or broken.

I will never buy another GE frefrigerator, this heating element has gone out three times, and everything else at least once. Since I have 25.3 reading on resistance, I assume that the element is good and the thermosate or the timer is now out. Oh fun of owning one of these pieces of junk. The other things are the water solinoid, water lines, Ice maker, shelves are all cracked and broken. Quite a piece of work.

It is a shame in todays world that these major appliance manufacturers cut corners in order to achieve a product that is in know way compareable to what they used to produce 25 years ago. They actually build appliances today to break down within a specified amount of time. Although there are a couple companies that are taking the time such as electrolux, asko, miele that are showing some promise of actually takeing the time and testing units before sending them out to the customer. Thanks again Rick

Deesuz I couldn;t agree more. What a terribly constructed fridge. Motherboard twice. Heating element once. Shelves are designed to fall out. Water trickles out of icemaker. Never buying GE anything ever again,

GE refrigerator is freezing everything.

I had that problem in my refrigerator and found out that it was coming from the freezer. The thermostat in the freezer broke and it was crazy freezing in the freezer part as well as freezing in the refrigerator. Once we replaced the thermostat everything was fine. It cost me $125
