Go to Control Panel and Click on Sounds, Click on Audio, then Click on the Microphone. Then Click on the drop down and select Camera Microphone or Headset.
Click OK and it should work.

Then to use it on the Web, do this.

Web Camera's have to be setup on the program they are to be used with. Just installing the camera on your computer does not set it up to broadcast on messengers or Skype.

Each program has Options that have to be setup in order for the Audio and Video to function properly.

A. Skype Setup:
After downloading and installing Skype

http://www.skype.com/intl/en-gb/download/skype/windows/beta/downloading/

set it up as follows:
Go to Tools, then Options, and click on Audio Settings and set the Microphone and Speakers to the computer Audio Card.
Then click on the Video Settings.
The camera, if Installed Properly, it will come up and show a video picture.
Then, on the bottom of the page click save.
The camera and audio should function properly. Your friends and Family will now be able to see and hear you.

B. Yahoo Setup:
After downloading and installing Yahoo Messenger

http://www.soft32.com/download_30.HTML

set it up as follows:
Go to Messenger at the top left and click on it.
Next go down to Preferences and click on it.
Next Calling and Devices on the right and set the Microphone and Speakers to the computer Audio Card.
Next go to the Test Audio section and (in blue writing) click on "Open the call setup assistant" and follow the instructions on the left window.

C. Windows Live Messenger:

http://download.live.com/Messenger

After you start Windows Live Messenger, expand the view by clicking on the square on top left next to the red X.
Then on the Windows Live messenger window on the right side, click on " "Show Menus." And then click on "Show the Menu Bar".
Next go to the Menu Bar on right side, click on " "Action."
Go to "TOOLS" and click "Audio and Video Setting" and follow the instructions.
NOTE: Your audio and video should work. Enjoy.
When done both the Audio and Video will function properly so you can chat and see family or friends you are connected to.

D. AIM (AOL) Messenger:

http://dashboard.aim.com/aim

On the VIM sign-in window click on Edit.
Then click on Settings Enhanced IM.
Next click on Enhanced IM.
Then click on Audio Video.
The Audio and Video portion has drop downs so you can select the proper audio card and video camera installed in you computer.
The Audi Video drop downs are
Microphone
Speaker
Camera
The audio and camera should function now.
Additional information to use with VIM settings.
Adjust Your Audio and Video Settings:
In order to adjust your audio and video settings, please follow the steps given below:
1. Click the Audio and Video Settings button directly below the My Buddy or My Camera window. If you are currently
Participating in an AOL Live Video IM session, a message will display: You must disconnect the current AOL Live Video IM
Conversation before running setup. Would you like to disconnect now? Click the Yes button.
2. The Audio and Video Tuning Wizard will appear to help you verify that your camera, speakers and microphone are working
Properly. Follow the on-screen prompts.
Notes:
The first time you use AOL Live Video IM, a message will display: Would you like to first check your audio and video settings? Click the Yes button.
The Audio and Video Tuning Wizard will appear to help you verify that your camera, speakers and microphone are working properly.
Follow the on-screen prompts.
images in AOL Live Video IM may appear reversed, or as a mirror image (text may appear backwards) when you look at your own camera feed or at the
Picture-in-picture (PIP) display.
After making the settings your ready for a chat and video talk with your Family and Friends.
Hope this helps. Bud

I have video and no audio.

Three typical things to look at (as you didn't post brand of webcam).
1. Webcam doesn't support audio - fix this by plugging in a microphone to the sound card (if desktop).
2. Input volume (from microphone) is turned all the way down or muted.
3. If webcam has built in microphone - microphone may be damaged.

No sound

Webcam Audio Getting sound to broadcast with streaming video using a webcam requires a few components to work in unison. Because most webcams do not have a microphone built in, you will need to buy a microphone for your computer or locate your microphone input if you have one built in (some laptops have these). The audio and video are two separate functions and must be diagnosed as such. b> Webcam Software b> If you have a webcam set up correctly and you are streaming video, then you are already halfway there. This details only how to make the sound work, so please refer to an article related to webcam video if you do not have that working already. The webcam audio and video both communicate with your computer via your webcam's software application. Due to this, you will find that there are settings specific to your webcam software for sound. Because there are various software applications that can act as an interface for your webcam, you will want to do a product-specific search on the Internet for your application's settings. Most often you will find the settings for sounds under Tools or Settings, then choosing Options or Preferences. Regardless of the application that you are using to broadcast your webcam video, you will need to ensure that your microphone is plugged into the "Microphone In" jack on your computer or laptop. The microphone input jack is commonly colored pink. b> Microphone Connection b> With your microphone plugged into the "Microphone In" audio jack, test the audio inside your webcam's software application. Most webcam applications allow you test your microphone by reading a sentence and watching a graph move as you speak. If you see this happening, then you have correctly hooked up your microphone. If you have a Windows PC you should also see if your computer recognizes your microphone by clicking on "Start" > "Settings" > "Control Panel" > "Sounds and Audio Devices." Under the "Audio" tab you will find a section for "Sound Recording." From there you can select or change your "Default Device." b> Hardware Troubleshooting b> In the event that your microphone is not recognized by your computer, continue hardware troubleshooting by contacting your computer's support staff. With a properly connected microphone and some minor adjustments in your webcam's software application, you should be broadcasting audio with your video in no time. Hope this helps.

I have a acer with the acer crystal eye webcam built in it. do it have a microphone with it. if so how do I get it to work?

The Acer with crystal eye webcam will also have a built-in microphone. The webcam is in the center at the top of the screen. The built-in microphone is typically half-way between the edge of the screen and the webcam. It is a little opening with a microphone logo beside it. You can test both audio input with the built-in microphone and the audio output with the built-in speakers by doing the following....
1. click start > Control Panel > Sounds and Audio Devices
2. in the Sounds and Audio Devices Properties click the Voice tab, then click the Test hardware button
3. in the Sound Hardware Test Wizard window click the Next button, if required, click unblock...
4. speak into microphone to do the Microphone Test. Recording meter will show movement if it works.
5. click Next button to do the Speaker Test. Microphone input is now output on the speakers.
6. click Next button when finished doing the readings and click Finish to close the wizard.

We got a new computer and it comes with a built in webcam but when i try and use the cam on msn it wont work...it just goes all fuzzy. what can i do to fix it?

Configure a webcam can take the course, however, a series of simple manipulations can improve the performance of your equipment.
Launch the Configuration Wizard

Close your audio or video conversations.
Then, in the main MSN window, go to:
Tools> Adjustment of audio and video

Adjust the picture

Once the setup wizard started, let yourself be guided by it.

Select your webcam (its name should appear in the list) and click "Next."

A window appears and prompts you to set your webcam. Check the layout and image sharpness. If the image is fuzzy, adjust the lens of your camera until the image is sharp. Then click next.

Adjust the sound

Once the camera set, the wizard offers to adjust the sound. To do this, select your microphone in the selection, either the webcam or a microphone plugged into the microphone on your computer.

Then select the speaker output of your sound card to hear from your speakers.

The wizard will then adjust the volume of your microphone. To do this, move the cursor until the sound obtained is satisfactory. Then click "Finish". Configuring your webcam is complete.

Thru the program your using for the microphone, see if there is a way to change the volume thru there just to make sure the program isn't messing up the microphone.

If you still can't get it to work then we know the microphone portion of the webcam is definitely defective but at least in this way we will havve verified it properly.

You need the software/drivers to get the camera installed. If you won't be using the CD, you can just download the software from Philips' website

Here's the link of the drivers:
