Inglis IFR 8200 electric dryer - power light comes on but no power to motor or heater. TCO hasn't tripped Any ideas?

Check the door switch! This is the likely culprit if the motor will not start. You can push the button in by hand with the door open and while holding the button in, push the start button. If still no go, check the switch itself does it click when pushed in and released slowly. If you can't hear or feel it clicking, replace the door switch. You can verify the switch function with a multimeter by reading across the switch without power applied and check for continuity as it changes state.

Why won't dryer start?

The door switch frequently fails on clothes dryers. You can check it by manually holding the tab tight to the panel and attempt to start the dryer. There should be a distinct click of a switch behind the panel when you depress the tab.

If dryer works when manually depressing tab but not when door is closed slightly bend the tab out to futher increase the travel of the tab when the door closes.

No click likely bad switch!

Replacement requires qualified technician. Part is inexpensive and readily available.

I CHANGED DRUM SUPPORT ROLLERS AND PUT BACK TOGETHER AN IT WILL NOT START

Suggest the following.
  • Check drum light. No light defective door switch. Light yes one leg of 220 circuit OK.
  • Be very sure motor doesn't start when you set to run. Belt may be off the motor and motor is very quite. Fix belt. Motor may be stuck or failed listen to hear if it is buzzing
  • When pressing start button listen for distinctive run relay activation. If when the start button is depressed I would expect to here the relay.
  • Motor run circuit relatively simple. The drum motor and blower are one assembly.

Dryer will not start. Power light is on. No coins are stuck in drum liner. No blockage. Recent repair replaced mother board at a cost of $500.00. The same repairman rep

Without a complete model number it's hard to say which direction to go. You might need a door switch, some door switches with an interior drum light will be a 3 wire switch allowing the interior light to come on but not the dryer start when the door is closed. Some dryers had a start relay mounted inside the control panel, which is controlled by the main board, failure of these relays can cause a no-op situation. Pleazer Appliance...

Dryer turns on but does not start when i push the start button. The timer comes on all the buttons light up, light is on inside dryer, but does not start just makes a sound when i hit the start button

if it's a humming sound the motor is bad or something is jammed keeping the motor from spinning.open the dryer door and move the drum by hand if the drum can't be moved the belt could be jammed on something or there's something stuck in the blower wheel.the blower wheel is behind the duct that the lint filter slides into.if you can move the drum then you most likely have a bad motor, try spinning the drum and push the door switch in and have someone else push the push to start button and see if the dryer will start,if the motor has a flat spot it could start like this.let me know what you find

Dryer drum is turning, but not drying the clothes. When I open the door, there is heat. Lint has been cleaned out

Check where the dryer vent comes out and make sure that there is a good amount of air coming out. If the fan is blowing, the drum is turning, and there is heat, the likely thing is that the dryer vent is partially blocked. Check the pipe leading out. Bird's nests are not uncommon. The only other thing I can think of is that the door catch is wearing out and the door is popping open, shutting the dryer off mid-cycle. Some dryers will continue to run the timer if the cycle is interrupted and it will appear that the dryer ran its full cycle, but in reality it shut off soon after it started.

My Inglis dryer will not start when the start button is pressed. I've checked the starter switch with a continuity tester by touching one probe to CO (black) and another probe to NO (white)--it doesn't...

No. Judging from what you are saying, the switch seems to be making. First, I would check the thermal fuse. It is usually located just inside the back of the dryer, mounted on or near the exhaust duct. It's about an inch long and can be checked for continuity. If it has none, it is bad. Second, you could look at a faulty door switch. It is inside the dryer main housing near the door frame. Sometimes you need to raise or open the top or the front of the dryer to access the switch. You can test it the same way you tested the start switch. Hang in there!! You'll find the problem. Hope this helped and best wishes.
