Continue to have windows not load after recovery, error

Hi my problem is after my computer crashed I got the error "load needed dlls for kernel. I tried to use the hardrive recovery partition when doing a full recovery it came up with errors downloading one of the programs "sonic" I thought this was a corrupted partion the same error "load needed... " came up.
I called hp and they didn't have the recovery disks anymore for that model.
the computer repair man at work had a copy of windows xp pro which he gave me. this loaded fine but the audio driver wasnt there. unfortunately i found out that this was only an evaluation copy .I found a company that had for sale discontinued recovery disks. when I loaded the recovery disks it still glitches on the sonic software during the final stage of recovery and gives the same error message load needed dlls for kernel and won t run. I did a full recovery. any help would be appreciated

this wasnt exactly what I was looking for, I was hoping there was another solution to get the recovery disks to download and work, also why this error keeps appearing even after a full recovery, any further advise would be appreciated.

Error message "load needed dlls for kernel"

1. Insert the Microsoft Windows XP CD. Note: If you have a recovery CD or a restore CD and not a Microsoft Windows XP CD it is likely the below steps will not resolve your issue. 2. Reboot the computer, as the computer is starting you should see a message to press any key to boot from the CD. When you see this message press any key. 3. In the Microsoft Windows XP setup menu press the R key to enter the recovery console. 4. Select the operating system you wish to fix, and then enter the administrator password. 5. Type expand d:\i386\ntoskrnl.ex_ c:\windows\system32 6. You will then be prompted if you wish to overwrite the file type Y and press enter to overwrite the file. 7. Type exit to reboot the computer.

Load needed dlls for kernel

Try running a Windows Repair by putting in a recovery cd you got with the laptop, if not simply reformat and reload windows.
If you need to know how, let me know.

Dlls for kernel

Error Message:
Load needed DLLs for Kernel Translation:
Important Windows XP program files are missing or damaged.
Solution:
This error is confusing for several reasons. First, many users may not understand that the kernel is the main program file in WinXP, the heart of the operating system. Second, the term “load needed DLLs” is just ambiguous enough that you might not know how serious the error really is. Unfortunately, this problem cannot be corrected by just rebuilding the system Registry or restoring files from the WinXP installation CD. You’ll need to perform an “in-place install” of the operating system, which will destroy most of your settings such as Internet Favorites and all of your applications. The good news: An in-place install will usually not overwrite files in your My Documents folder and will keep other files located in other directories (as long as they are not operating-system-related). To perform an in-place upgrade, you’ll need to boot from the WinXP CD, which might require that you enter the BIOS (Basic Input/Output System) of your computer and enable the Boot From CD option. Then, when the install starts up, select the Install WinXP option and follow the remaining instructions.
