Go to the Crucial Memory Website and run the memory scan tool online. It will tell you how much memory the system can use, how much is installed and in which slots and best of all, exactly what memory your system requires for an upgrade.
There is lots of different memory to choose from and this takes the work out of it.

I put a 2gb ddr2-667 memory chip in the single (only) memory slot in my gateway nx100x notebook pc. The pc will not boot up with the 2gb memory card. Is there a compatibility problem or do I have a ba

yes, there may be compatibility problem. your 2GB ram may be dead. try your 2gb ram on other notebooks. if it is working on other notebooks, then your ram is ok. your notebook will support maximum 2GB ddr2 memory per slot. your notebook may not be booting due to unsupported frequency of your ram. maximum supported frequency for your notebook may me 400Mhz, and you are putting a 667MHz ram into it. try to put a 400MHz 2GB ddr2 ram in your notebook.

I m trying to upgrade my HP compaq nc6320 RAM MEMORY from 1GB to 4GB, Do i need BIOS upgrade if yes from were i can find the drivers and how can i do it? thanx i am gone wait for respond......

Hi,

As far as I know, the machine supports 4GB of ram, so you purchase the ram modules from a pc parts dealer and install them inside the machine, removing the existing ram, there are 2 slots, so you need 2, 2GB cards.

You do not require any drivers or bios update.

Windows will need to be upgraded to 64Bit version if you wish to use the full capacity. as normal windows is limited to 3-3.75GB

Further questions? let me know.

My laptop is too slow even if i am just surfing internet like FB. can the memory be upgradable? up to how many gb?

you can upgrade up to 2GB (DDR2)
Your computer has 1 memory slot you remove the memory and install a new one.
you can use either
2GB 800MHz DDR2 Non-ECC CL6 SO DIMM
or
2GB 667MHz DDR2 Non-ECC CL6 SO DIMM

Samsung n150 plus is expandable to how many memory?

The Samsung N150 Laptop comes installed with 1GB of Memory and can be upgraded to a maximum of 2GB Memory. This computer has 1 (one) SO-DIMM memory slot, so to upgrade to 2GB of RAM, you will need to replace the installed RAM module with a single 2GB PC2-5300 DDR2-667 200pin SDRAM SO-DIMM memory module.

If you find this solution helpful, please leave a positive rating!

Wont to upgrade graphic card my p.c has 2gig max ram in it wonts should i upgrade to to preform its best cheers mike

Depends on what kind of hardware you have
-Memory- 2 gb ram is "ok" if you use windows XP but if you have Vista or Windows 7 you should have a minimum of 4gb ram.
-Processor- if you have a Dual core processor you are ok, if you have a p4 or p3 you dont want to waste money on a new graphics card because it will not help you get better games, your processor and memory will slow you down instead.
So my advice is, if you have a OK computer, go ahead with buying a new graphics card if you computer is old and slow, DONT buy a new card! put your money on +2gb ram instead (cheap, and gives you more benefits) or maybe buy an "upgrade package" with new motherboard-memory-processor.

Upgraded memory on SONY Vaio Laptop

Try reinstalling the memory card once more. Probably the memory card was not seated properly or the new card is not working at all.

Compaq Presario Notebook V3000T I replaced the 2-256mb memory cards with 2-1g memory cards. System boots up but only reads 1024mb?

Thanks to Microsoft Knowledge Base for help with my answer:

First, find out what the maximum amount of memory is. This is generally listed by most of the manufacturers. This will let you know what upgrade potential the system has. Next, determine how the memory configuration is when you buy the system. For example, a laptop that has 2GB of memory can be configured as either a single 2GB module or two 1GB modules. The single memory module allows for better upgrade potential because by adding another module you are gaining more memory without sacrificing any current memory. Upgrading the two module situation with a 2GB upgrade would result in the loss of one 1GB module and a memory total of 3GB.

Want to know how to upgrade my lap top memory thank you

To upgrade you will need a SoDimm 2gb DDR II SDRAM, 667 MHz module, on the bottom of the notebook you will need to remove the panel usually secured by 4 screws to gain access to the memory slots, you probably have a 1 and 2 gb modules already so it'll mean removing the 1gb chip and discarding it as you only have 2 memory slots so you can fit the new 2gb module.

I upgraded the RAM on Lenovo X200 (745533A) from factory 2GB PC3-8500 to 4GB PC3-8500. Checked the BIOS and recognized the new 4GB memory. The trouble is, after upgrading the RAM, the WIFI stopped working...

Possibly the new sticks are defective. Try this: disable the wireless devices before removing the old memory. Install the new memory and reactivate the wireless devices. Another possibility: mislabeled memory. Can you check the new sticks in another machine? Check online and see if your machine has a BIOS update. If so, you may have to do it. Take all of the precautions when doing this. If youre not comfortable doing a BIOS update, get a service tech involved. Improperly done, youll render your machine inoperable.

I want to know if I can upgrade the harddrive and memory

Depending on the memory you already have you can install upto a maximum of 1GB 266MHZ DDR, and cannot see any reason for not being able to upgrade your hardrive for a bigger one, but be aware that the Operating system backup will probably be on a seperate partition on your current hardrive, unless you got an installation cd with your laptop.
