The top is bolted down. You gotta get the front off first. Slide a putty knfe between the top and front an push down on them clips to release the front and then you can lift it out yer way. Then you will be able to get the top offHow to get aggator our of washing macnine - 5e8b8a5.jpg

Are you asking how to take the agitator out of the unit if so you have to remove the cover on the top of the agitator secondly you would need a 7/16 socket with around a 9" extension bar losen the nut thats inside the agitator then after you remove the nut put both hands on both sides of the agitator and pull upwards

Does it fill and not agitate? If so, you will need to replace the lid switch.

Thanks for choosing FixYa and welcome. You need to check the motor drive. It controls the spinning and the agitation.

Our 7 year old maytag washer won't aggatate , is this worth fixing?

Only you can answer that. The belt costs about $10 and a new machine costs from $400. If the transmission is out, thet can be purchased for about $100.

Washing machine won't spin or aggatate

We had the same problem and it was really easy to fix. On the dial for the load size, turn it all the way to the right to "reset" and then check to see if it resolves the problem. It did with our washer same model and problem. Best wishes.... Doug
