No, you do not "need" a Monitor driver as such, although there is no reason, why you shouldn't install them. but they are NOT critical. Now what is critical are the Video card drivers for you card.

OK check out those links above they will show you how to setup multiple monitors.

VA902b Viewsonic monitor just went black this morning while working. Tried updating driver. Reboot. Does display during startup and goes black again. Monitor problem or hardware? I have 2 monitors.

The best thing to do to isolate the problem is to connect the problem monitor into a known working CPU. If the same problem occur, then the problem is the monitor. You may need to check if the power light (LED) is blinking or no light at all.

If there's no light, you may start replacing the power cable if the cable is detachable. But if it's built-in to the monitor, then send it to the authorized repair shop. They need to check if the panel is shot.

Thank you and good luck!

power supply on your monitor is not stable. Could be 1 of the ballast transformer of the backlight in the monitor is overheating and soon to burn out, that cause the instability of the power supply.

More likely to have bad caps in the power supply, that is the first place to check for bad caps with bulging top, it can also be bad inverter circuits, or bad lamps, open it up and post back what you see so we can guide you further, see example of failed VIEWSONIC monitors due to bad caps: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums

it will probably be the graphics driver you need to update as XP probably loaded generic a graphic driver. The monitor should be ok with a standard driver.
