As posted, I already performed all generic troubleshooting. I'm looking for specific faults or defects that may be typical of this brand or model.

Have you replaced the ptc overload relay on the compressor,if this is defective replace this and any motor start/run capacitor as this supplies all power to the machine

Hello,

First, check that the power cord is plugged into a working electrical outlet and that the power button is switched to "On." Next, check that the humidistat is set above "Minimum." On the "Minimum" setting, the humidifier will only work intermittently depending on the amount of humidity in the room. Raising the level of the humidistat will turn the dehumidifier on right away.

The water tank will keep the dehumidifier from running if it is full or if it is improperly placed in the machine. Check the water tank and empty it if needed. If the water tank is empty and the dehumidifier still will not run, pull the tank out of the machine and then reinsert it.

You may find your Delonghi dehumidifier does not start working for up to three minutes after powering it on. This is due to a security feature in the machine. The security feature is in place to prevent damage to the components of your dehumidifier. Wait at least three minutes to see if the machine turns on. If it does not turn on, plug the dehumidifier in a different electrical socket. You should contact a service technician if the machine does not turn on after using several different sockets.

Dehumidifier troubleshooting is a straightforward process-most things that go wrong can be easily adjusted. A dehumidifier works by using a fan to draw in moist air. The air is passed over a refrigerated coil that causes moisture to condense onto the coils. As the moisture accumulates, it runs down the coils and is collected in a reservoir.

First, make sure the reservoir is empty. If you plug the unit in and see a green power light, but the unit won't run, make sure the reservoir is properly inserted. Many dehumidifiers have switches or sensors to make sure that the reservoir is placed so that it won't leak. Look for these sensors and make sure the reservoir is engaging them. If your dehumidifier has a float or switch to indicate a full reservoir, make sure this switch isn't being tripped accidentally.

Good luck.

Model GHD30 will not run. Have power to the board. I can hear a click noise when turning the switch on. I electricially checked the compressor and fan both ok. PCB board?

Jim, you may also want to check the water bucket installation, too. If it is not properly installed, the unit will not turn ON. Also, check the float valve in the top of the bucket. It may be stuck in the UP position. In which case the unit will not start. Giggle the arm of the float valve to get it to return to the DOWN position.

Hope this helps you to further troubleshoot & solve the problem. Thanks for choosing FixYa.

Zenith ZD30 dehumidifier - 1 1/2 years old stopped working had a half bucket oc colledted water in bucket when it stopped. I checked the fuse on the circuit board and have continuity.

Unplug from wall. Take the front cover off and disconnect the 2 wires that attach to the humidity control dial. Plug back in. If it works, the problem is the humidty control dial (mine just went bad). With it unhooked, it will run constantly, but will still turn off when the bucket is full. To turn off, simply unplug.

Unit fan is running but the compressor is not.

Hi,
It could be a bad compressor, circuit board, or maybe even a sensor or dehumidistat...

My 1 yr old Zenith ZD30 dehumidifier just stopped working all together. The bucket is empty and I checked the to be sure that a circuit didnt trip. Any suggestions as to what it can be?

The Zenith ZD30 is made by LG as many other brands are also. There is a fuse located on the control board. That may have blown. I have also had 3 LG units come into my shop with bad control boards. If the fuse is ok. Measure the ohms at the power plug L1 to Neutral, with the unit unplugged. It should read around 430 ohms. The ones with bad boards read real high. Hope this helps.

Dehumidifier won't run

After all that testing you have diagnosed the problem. It is the main circuit board. So there is not reason to do any more test. I would just get a new control board and off you go

The main switch is broken off and it does not turn on

You have to remove the entire wrapper to get to the control circuit board, make sure you unplug unit!! Locate the small white wires that plug into the board and go to the humidity switch.Unplug the connector at the board and plug the machine in and see if everything runs. ps make sure you reinstall the bucket or unit will not run. If machine runs replace that humidity control. The plug on the board is usually white. The other white wire is 4 the light. I hope this helps./
