Sounds to me like the issue is missing or corrupt software. You can visit Kodaks website to download the latest software for your camera. Be sure that if you have it already installed to uninstall it prior to installing the new version.
Kodak EasyShare Software
see many a times the drivers files are corrupted after a particular period of time due to loading of some other softwares or programs getting crosslinked with few necessary files.i would suggest you to uninstall the driver completely first then install it fresh again.its a common problem and will get solved after reloading fresh drivers again.thanks.
sian_goldfin, Have you loaded the easy share software to the computer prior to connecting for the first time? Windows is funny about that so first reload the software (uninstall it if you must) then shut down the computer then restart it. (assuming Windows XP) Make sure you can open the program without the camera attached. Fill out and register it then exit the program, attach the connector and you should see that the camera is recognized and the software should restart and then you should be able to transfer your photos into the album or folder option of your choice. Just check the installation instructions to make sure the program is off before you connect the camera. Early versions only worked when it was started. randy320sgi
Tell us more about the everything! You habe connected to USB cable from camera to Computer - Yes? Switched on the Camera and set to 'Upload - Yes? If you have installed the software disk- uninstall it and let the Computer sort it- which it can. Are you using an external card reader- which is preferable to uploading from camera by the way. Just tell me more.
Sometimes writing it down helps ;]
Uninstall, and reinstall with camera disconnected. Some devices need to be out when installing their software, some need to be plugged in, on some it doesn't matter.
If you're still having problems check if the USB works with other devices, maybe you need to reintall the USB drivers, or maybe its just broken.
Post back if stuck, we'll figure something out ;]
The cause and solution may include one of the following:
There is a problem with the configuration of the USB port on the computer.See the USB.html file on the EasyShare software CD.
The camera is off. Turn on the camera.
The battery is not charged. Recharge the battery.
Some Advanced Power Management utilities on laptops turn off ports to save battery life. See the power management section of the laptop User's Guide to disable this feature.
The USB cable is not securely connected. Connect the cable from the camera to the computer port.
The software is not installed. Install the software.
The software is installed incorrectly. Do the following to install the software correctly:
Disconnect the USB cable.
Close all open programs.
Uninstall, then reinstall the software. (To uninstall, go to Start > Settings > Control Panel > Add/Remove programs.)
Too many programs are running on the computer. Do the following to close all running programs:
Disconnect the camera from the computer.
Close all software programs.
Reconnect the camera.
The Battery Monitor or similar software runs constantly. Close the software before starting Kodak EasyShare software.
