I cracked the screen on my Dell studio 1555 and my warranty is expired. I found a lcd screen via ebay and would like to change it myself. Can anyone tellme how?

the LCD could be getting ready to quit working soon or it could be the plug on the inside of your computer that the screen plugs into the screen could be coming undone thats what it sounds like to me i maybe wrong
First reinstall the DVD driver to see if the DVD drive works. If not then - Try removing the DVD drive and inserting it back to make sure it properly connected then boot up the laptop and go into the BIOS and see it the DVD drive is detected, if the DVD drive is not detected then the DVD drive is faulty and needs to be replaced.

First, check the RAM.. If possible replace it by a good one for testing or clean the pins of the old one using clean paper.
Second, its processor...
Third, maybe it is the inverter of your LCD display or the whole LCD. Test it using external monitor by plugging your data cable to it monitor port.
