You will definately want to call LG and have them refer you to an auth. service center for warranty repair. This is either a failed scan bd or mayber even a bad plasma panel and there is nothing simple for a problem as you describe.

How many years have you had the TV?
The systems wear out over a period of about 2- 4 years.
LED systems, now very expensive, have a longer life expectancy than LCD systems.

I would contact LG ASAP to have this repair under warranty. It can be bad LCD panel which is very expensive to replace.

The faded screen(if you mean faint image) is due to failed backlight inverter board. THe backlight is sealed behind the LCD paneland lights up the image . Replacing the inverter board should resolve the problem. In sets of this size there are usually master and slave inverters. Let me know if you wish to fix it yourself so that I can give you the instructions.
