yes this way the fan dont push air to the fresh food compartment

Hi, When that strip gets hot, it is a sign the temperatures are not cold enough. Put a thermomitor in the freezer. You should get a reading of 0 to 5 above. If not, let me know and we can try and get you through this.

The problem is a defrost problem. The freezer coil has frost on it and thus restricts the cold air from flowing. This affects the refrigerator as it gets its cold air from the freezer. The ice will not make if the temperature is above 12*F and this also is why ice cream is like mush.

Check the back wall of the freezer.
Is it iced up?
If yes, replace the defrost parts.

I would check that fan motor in the freezer section is running. it distributes cold air from freezer into refrig section also if this motor is running the top portion of freezer will not get cold enough to allow ice production. the motor is easy to repl and is mod# specific you should be able to buy one online.

Try turning the fridge and the freezer off at the controls.
Then turning off the breaker for the fridge for 5 minutes .
then turn the breaker back on and restart the fridge and freezer!
This should reset the system and solve your problem.
