Hi there
This may work for you, it has worked for many here I given this advice so gave it a try it could work for you. Generally when this happens, something has fallen into the printer, or a piece of paper has been jammed in there.

First step, remove the ink cartridge, and turn the printer upside down and gently shake it, see if anything comes out.

If nothing goes, or you can't hear anything rattling around, get a piece of cardstock paper (60lb or heavier) and gently push this through the printer, to see if it will help push out what might be stuck in there.

And gave the rode that the ink slides on a good clean and maybe a bit oil on cloth and wipe the rod with it.

Also clean The purge unit, called a spittoon assembly in an HP, Lexmark, Caonon and other inkjet printers, is where the print head assembly parks when not in use, also its other job is to clean and make sure the print head is clean and open for printing.

That is where you'll find the print head assembly parked on top of it.
It also has an electrical pump to milk the print heads and test for ink flow.

So clean all under where the heads are parked and on IP6600D models you can take out the heads just by clipping them out, and then clean well.

Please come back and just gave a vote, it will gave me some satisfaction to know am helping some one so I will keep on helping.

SOURCE: HP Deskjet F4280 Ink Level

Hi,
when you refill the cardtridge, you can not reset the ink level... because refilling doesn't show the ink levels.. you no need to worry. if ink is there in the carttridge it will print...
Shouldn't worry about it. They are only a rough guide. The only time to worry about it is when the printer stops working and it has told you it's run out of ink! Thank you.......

SOURCE: paper jam in HP deskjet 380 series

I just completely took apart my front feeder unit because I just didn't believe there was a paper stuck in there. Sure enough, when I got to the bottom (an hour later) there it was- and it wasn't from the paper that was jammed. It must have been floating around in there waiting to get in just the right place to block the little sensor wiggly thing.
After I got it out, I realized there was a MUCH easier solution--- get some heavy paper (I used cardboard folded in half) and manually feed it through the paper feeder in the front assembly by hand. You can see where it should go in (it's where the paper from Tray 1 goes in) and out (it lines up with the belt in the main body of the printer) and there is a large gear on the side you can turn to help you get it through (just turn the gears until you feel the one that grabs your heavy paper.)
As it comes out, it should have your stuck paper with it.
