Question about Janome Memory Craft 5700
Hi there. I purchased this machine 2nd hand and was working through the embroidery manual teaching myself the basics of use. After about a half an hour of experimenting, I left the machine to embroider the letter B, I heard the needle break and when I went back to check on the machine the power had shut down, it would not turn back on.
We read about the problem possible being a fuse so we replaced both fuses however it still will not turn back on.
I also read about one owner leaving the machine and that it eventually powered on after about 6 hours. Did she leave her machine's power button 'on'?
Any information would be helpful as I may have to go to the original owner to see about getting my money back.
I have had the Janome5700 since July 2006. I purchased it from QVC for a very affordable price Brand New. I also purchased a warranty from Sears because Janome makes Sears machines. They were willing to sell me the warrranty. I keep my machine clean and bring it to Sears at least once a year for a routine maintenance. I also have brought it once in between as I felt it needed a cleaning in between the yearly. They were more than happy to service it. I use my machine every day and have had no problems. If you have any questions you can contact Janome on line as they have a wonderful customer service and tech-support no matter how old your machine is and never ask the age of your machine or where you purchased it. Try Janome.com it is worth a try. Remember never oil your machine or take it apart. Let an experienced tech person help you. It is worth the extra money.

Me again, well, I went back in to cheque the fuse box and sure enough. When we re-installed the box the plug to the power switch had come undone.
Access to the fuse box is easiest by removing the heavy base. The plug to the power switch has a very short cord and is easiest to be sure it's plugged properly by going in through the side via removing the side panel.
