Question about Lowrance LMS-332C GPS Receiver

1 Answer

This unit is blowing the in line fuse. I had talked to your support people and they advised that they thought the problem was coming from the coax coming from the receiver. it didn't matter which peice was disconnected, it still blew the fuse. Got any other ideas ?

If you remove the unit from the charger line - and the fuse still blows - get a new one.

Do not have any current coming to my thermostat

You did not list the make and model, there is a transformer in the unit and some have it outside the unit. The transformer may be protected by a fuse on the external ones. On the internal one there is a fuse on the control board. Be advised that if the fuse is bad, there is a reason that it failed. Troubleshooting can be difficult and time consuming.

Heater/ac power want come on

Try writing in english sentences please. If the a/c and heat don't Want to come on then they must not be inate objects. and therefore must have feelings and emotions. So try talking to the heating and air conditioning units in a soothing tone of voice. try coaxing them to come on with penut butter and jelly sanwiches or some other treat.

65" projection toshiba power fuse blows

You have a dangerous situation here---All modern units (Lamps, TV's, everything) Have a polarized power cord---one side of plug the pin is smaller than other side.

The large side goes to the neutral side of the electrical outlet.

One of two things has happened---either a issue with the electrical outlet which is rather rare except in older houses that have the old style electrical outlets (both pins the same size) Or someone has managed to get a cord in backwards--filed down the large lug on the power cord and put it in backwards.

What happens and can be tested is with it backwards you have "potential" 120 volts being fed back into the cable wire itself--

DO NOT KEEP CHANGING THE FUSE--a simple test with a voltmeter set to AC (wall) voltage from a earth ground (water pipe of metal will show 120 volts on the coax.

The touchy part is any set in the house misconnected can feed this back via the coax!

The cable company may be able to help or NOT> an electrician will be able.

The way I would locate this is with the volt meter hooked to the coax I would disconnect the cable feed from each set or unit in the house one at a time until no voltage reading---then you would know which is causing this issue.

Be advised it can spark which can destroy parts in any of the sets or equipment.

Kind of like if you got shocked when you touched the metal on your car.....something bad is happening.

Please if need ANY help comment here and I will assist.

Hooked up cb, blows fuse when the mic is keyed

when mic is pressed transmitter is engaged. First is the Fuse the proper fuse? Could be an antenna-coax problem. Get a dummy load and hook up to your CB and try it again. If it doesn't blow the fuse, the problem is indeed in your coax antenna system. another way to test your antenna coax is to disconnect it from the radio, take a multimeter, set it to ohms 200 ohm scale, put one lead on the center pin of the coax and the other on the outside of the connector on the coax.if it shows anything at all, you have a short and that will not work. It needs to not read anything. To be sure the antenna system is ok other than swr you can also check the coax an antenna for continuity. one lead of meter on the coax center pin then other on the antenna. should get a reading, a low value. again on the outside of the coax at the connector and at the antenna side on the outside of the coax connector. should be a low reading. but you cannot have a reading from the center of the coax to the outside of the coax. disconnect the coax at the antenna and measure from center to outside at the coax if the previous reading showed a value. If you see a value on the meter, any value, your coax has a short. not good. most likely at the coax connector. redo the connector. It is possible that the coax got compromised somehow and got smashed to the point the outside coax meets the inside and touches.
Now the other possibily your fuse blows, kis because the final output transistor is bad. So if you hook up a dummy load to your radio and the fuse still blows, then the final transistor is bad. This is probably due to a bad coax-antenna system. So before you replace any parts check the coax-antenna system first or you will have the same problem and burn out another transistor in the final. If none of this helps then just get another radio or have a god buddy look at it that knows about radios. Trade him another radio or something to fix it.

88 Buick Park Avenue - Radio, Heating/Ac pannel & lighter are out. Thinking it could be fuse? Any other thoughts & are these on same fuse system.

They are usually not on same fuse..something may be making multiple fuses blow..check the fuse box and see if any are blown.

If your just talking about the lights on those items they are all on the same fuse check the fuses...often a bad cigar lighter socket will cause the fuse to blow

Sanyo HT27547 tv - lightening came in on coax line

Ther is probably a fuse and a diode that got hit by the lighting. If you want to try to fix it yourself unplug it check the fuse and change it if it is bad. Then turn it on again. If it blows that fuse then a diode is also out.

Hitachi 50UX23K blows main fuse when just plugging in coax or anything in back

You may a grounding (short) on the coax connector on the set. The connector should isolated from ether side of the AC input of the set. Take a ohm meter, set it to 1K. and test between the coax connector (both the shell and center pin) to both sides of the AC plug. You should get NO reading! If you do, their is a short. (The coax cable is grounded where it comes into the house). As for the relay, try Fry's electronics.
