Question about Sewing Machines

1 Answer

I have a Bernina 730 (which was not an option as far as I could tell). I have threaded both the top thread and the bobbin correctly. However, my machine sporadically pulls on the fabric it has sewn, creating a gathering effect. How do I get it to stop doing this?

Change to a new needle in the size and type appropriate for the fabric you are sewing, This should be in the instruction manual.

My bottom tention of Bernina Deco 340 is to loose. How to I correct is. The top treat shows to much at the bottom

Um, the top thread is showing on the bottom of the fabric? The top tension is too loose. The two threads create a tension battle, one pulling against the other. To pull the bobbin thread up, tighten the top tension. The tension is accurate when the two threads meet "in the middle" of the fabric. On thinner fabric, you might see a tiny spot of bobbin thread on the top and a tiny spot of top thread on the bottom.

Bernina sewing machine 1630.. Stitch won't stay in. Bobbin thread pulls out ???

Clip the top thread next to the spool. Raise the presser foot and pull the clipped thread DOWN through the needle eye. (Always remove the top thread in this manner. NEVER pull the top thread up!!!)

Now, ALWAYS RAISE the presser foot and rethread the top thread. Verify the thread path is correct.

Set the top tension to the midway point (then tweak the tension by testing).

If the bobbin thread is still pulling out, the top thread tension needs to be tightened. The tension is correct when the top thread and bobbin thread meet in the middle of the fabric.

I have Bernia 180. The bottom thread is puckering. Top thread is perfect. I cannot find help in manual. Please help

Check that the bobbin is inserted turning the proper direction in the bobbin case and that the thread is threaded correctly through the tension control on the bobbin case.

Make sure the upper thread is threaded correctly. The factory standard upper tension setting is midway between high & lower number although this may need to be tweaked for your particular machine.

If the machine is still pulling the bobbin thread too tight, you can try tightening the upper thread tension. If it still isn't resolved, you may need to loosen the bobbin tension.

You might also want to check the presser foot pressure on your machine. That generally needs adjustment when changing from thicker to thinner fabric and vice versa.

The top thread does not pull up the bobbin thread

Is the bobbin thread through the needle eye? If not then it needs to be there. The top thread doesn't pull it.

try changing the needle
try turning the bobbin the opposite direction in the case
make sure the top thread has not come off the thread take up lever
clean under the needle plate and in the bobbin area for lint
if these suggestion don't help then the machine needs to be checked

Loose top thread bernina 1008, tension problem but no solutions yet...

Are you sure you are getting the top thread between the tension discs? You should be able to tell the difference when you lower the pressed foot.

I have a faithful 730 Bernina and currently the bobbin thread keeps breaking. Please advise what may be causing this. Thanking you.

Bobbin thread breaks
1. There is a right way & wrong way to insert the bobbin in the case --when you insert the bobbin in if it doesn't stitch correctly turn the bobbin over see if that helps or bobbin case is not inserted correctly
2. Lint has collected in the bobbin holder
3. The bobbin is damaged & doesn't turn smoothly
4. Lower thread tension is two tight

I have a Bernina 130, the thread from the bobbin is coming out with huge loops, the top thread looks great, but turn over the fabric and you have a mess. Any advice is welcome.

Usually if your bobbin thread is loopy it's because the TOP thread is not threaded right. Try threading it again with the presser foot UP and make sure to get the thread between the upper tension discs. It's just the opposite of what you would think.....if the bobbin thread is loopy, the top thread is threaded wrong, if the top thread is loopy, the bobbin is threaded wrong. Good luck!

Viewer states problem - but cannot correct.

Hi, if you look in the bobbincase you will see a round spring. Sometimes this gets moved and it blocks the hole the sensor reads through. Clean inside the bobbincase with a q-tip. Also clean the sensor lens on the door with a q-tip. Also try rewinding a bobbin but don't start with the thread through a hole in the bobbin.
Hope this helps.

Bobbin thread is pulling to the top, using embroidery needle, bobbin thread and proper thread on the top. As far as I know the machine is set right. This might not be the right place to ask, but am...

Setting bobbin case tension:
Put wound bobbin in bobbin case. Thread it in case. Hold the thread and carefully let go of the case only holding bobbin thread. The case should NOT move. Quickly let your hand drop 2-3 inches to let the bobbin case free fall for 2-3 inches, the bobbin case should move slightly then stop. It moves because it let’s a little thread off the bobbin. It should then stop .5"- 2" of thread should release. If so, your bobbin case tension is right. If it’s right then begin to look at your top thread tension. Always Always start with a properly adjusted bobbin case, then adjust your top tension accordingly.
