When I wanted to print in black today it printed very lightly and I thought it was a cartridge problem so I replace it. Same result so I thought the new cartridge was faulty and bought another. Same results. How can I get the printer to print again?

The issue is the plunger. the plunger is clogged and not allowing the ink to pass threw and it causes this issue. You can run a allignment on the cartridge or do a series of 2 or 3 photo prints i betcha it will ether clear up or become worse if it becomes worse then you need to take the whole print head carrage out and clean it or replace it. this comes with the plunger so its all one piece.

So let me give you a run down

1. run alignment or print a complete high color photos you do not need photo paper jusr regular.
2. change or clean the print head plunger.

Other then these two things there is not other solution but to buy a new printer and I am sure that is no solution at all.

for my efforts today in diagnosis over email and spening my time with you please do click the accept button. Also if you have questions please ask.

I only want to print in black, but one color cartridge is out of ink. How can I still print in black and white? without it?

Even though you are only printing in B/W, colour ink is still used, Why? I really don't know. Also most printers will not print if one or more cartridges needs replacing

How to change the ink cartridge

Follow these instructions when you need to replace print cartridges.

• Everyday printing: Use a black cartridge along with a tri-color cartridge.
• Color photos: Use a photo cartridge along with a tri-color cartridge.
To replace the print cartridges
1. Make sure the HP All-in-One is on.
CAUTION: If the HP All-in-One is off when you open the print cartridge door to
access the print cartridges, the HP All-in-One will not release the cartridges for
changing. You might damage the HP All-in-One if the print cartridges are not
docked safely when you try to remove them.
2. Make sure you have letter or A4 unused plain white paper loaded in the input tray.
3. Open the print cartridge door.
The print carriage moves to the far right side of the HP All-in-One.
4. Wait until the print carriage is idle and silent, and then lightly press down on a print
cartridge to release it.
If you are replacing the tri-color print cartridge, remove the print cartridge from the
slot on the left.
If you are replacing the black or photo print cartridge, remove the print cartridge from
the slot on the right.
1 Print cartridge slot for the tri-color print cartridge
2 Print cartridge slot for the black and photo print cartridges
5. Pull the print cartridge towards you out of its slot.
6. If you are removing the black print cartridge in order to install the photo print cartridge,
store the black print cartridge in the print cartridge protector or an airtight plastic
container.
7. Remove the new print cartridge from its packaging and, being careful to touch only
the black plastic, gently remove the plastic tape by using the pink pull tab.
1 Copper-colored contacts
2 Plastic tape with pink pull tab (must be removed before installing)
3 Ink nozzles under tape
CAUTION: Do not touch the copper-colored contacts or ink nozzles. Also, do
not re-tape the print cartridges. Doing so can result in clogs, ink failure, and bad
electrical connections.
8. Hold the print cartridge with the HP logo on top, and insert the new print cartridge into
the empty cartridge slot. Make sure you push the print cartridge in firmly until it snaps
into place.
If you are installing the tri-color print cartridge, slide it into the left slot.
If you are installing a black or photo print cartridge, slide it into the right slot.
9. Close the print cartridge door.greatcir.png

Canon i9100: colors printing incorrectly

I've had the Canon i9100 since 2003 and have excellent photo printing results. In 2009 it started playing up and I'd gt some banding. More recently, black didn't want to print. It was as though the black ink in the print head got dry some days.

April 2010 - The colours started printing strange and I bought a brand new print head and installed it. Only takes a minute. Still had an issue with photo printing. Black and white was excellent but colours weren't true.

Found advice online to try cleaning the print head to print head carrier electrical contacts by rubbing them with a rubber eraser.

I did that and now I'm getting perfect colour photo prints again.

I had been thinking about buying a new A3+ printer but this is old printer is now working as good as new.
