Re: vizio model L37
Here, try the trouble shooting guide and let me know start with page 56, here is the link
Let me know when you have tried the trouble shooting for picture and sound even though this may not help, Also, since replacing the board didn't work, I will suggest going right to the manufacturer on this since the board was the only thing that really made sense for both to be out. Otherwise there might be a loose connection somewhere, anyway call them and let me know what they tell you and if they can't help, then you might have to take it in somewhere to have it checked, but the main board is the only thing that really makes sense

Do you see any burn marks or leaking components on that board? If the TV's power supply thinks it's on then it would make sense that the problem is on the main board. I've seen it here for sale: http://www.vancebaldwin.com/products/?3370-0082-0150 $126 bucks, not bad.
First try to look really close at the screen to try to see if there is faint evidence of a picture, if so then the problem is with the FL inverter that drives the backlight. But if there is no sound then it's not that but the main board. Good luck!
If you see the back light, then you should have 24vdc on the main power supply board which it gets the turn on command from the maun board. If you do have all those voltage, then it does sound like you need the new main board.
The backlight is powered by its own supply (although it may receive input from the main supply) and it sounds like the main supply or one of its outputs has failed disabling the video and sound processing.
Check all electrical connections. If standby light is off when plugged in, probably needs Power Supply board replaced. If standby light is on (Orange/Amber color) may need Power Supply board and or Main Board. If set was shutting down on it's own leading up to it not powering on at all, may need Main Board, and possibly Power Board as well. If standby light has changed from Orange/Amber color to Green, the set IS powered on, and you have an issue other than power.
Sounds like a bad av connection on the main board. i would try to connect the xbox via an alternate av connection or hdmi to verify problem. contact vizio support and describe your problem. they have had trouble with this main board. some of their parts have lifetime warranties and the service call is free. changing out the main board is a pretty simple process, about an hour or less. hope this helps.
