Question about Canon PIXMA MP160 All-In-One Printer
I have a Canon MP160 printer, I bought slightly used a couple of years ago. I has been working great until now, and even now, it still prints, but the top left hand corner has a small dogear and ink that crosses diagonally across dogear, and down side for 2 inches. I then noticed a piece of foam lying on the platform where the printed page comes out of the printer. It is 9" long and1/4" wide, except where there are rectangular raised areas at different spots along one side. It looks like it was cut into a precise pattern. I am sure it has something to do with printing/ink because it has ink saturated on one end with a bar of ink halfway down the strip of foam. The printer malso makes a claking sound when it starts printing, and I first thought the paper was jammed, but it printed. I want to know if I can fix this myself, as I am short on funds at present, and where the foam came from. I haven't a clue. Thanks very much. jekan
That foam is an ink cleaner and must be placed under the print head. You can insert that back using a flat screw driver to push the foam. Look at the pattern/markings on the foam that should match the plastics under the printhead. If you open the top cover while your printer is turned off, you can see the plastic that holds the foam.
