    I GUESS I DIDN'T MAKE IT CLEAR. SORRY. THIS IS AN EXTERNAL DOCUMENT THAT HAS TO BE SCANED INTO THE COMPUTER 1st AND THEN THEN SENT TO SOMEWHERE ELSO

Boberin3, can you please expand your question and give us the full information as there are too many variables for us to give a definitive answer to this question.
please advise what email program for a start and what you are trying to do.
If my thinking about what you're trying to do is correct then I'll have to say you cannot actually scan a document into an email but scan it to your computer and attach it to the email.
If you want the text of a document to be the email then you need to scan it to a word processor, then copy it and paste it into the email or email direct from the word processor if it has that facility and you use an email program such as Outlook.

    ok, thanks, so scan the document to somewhere easy to find like your desktop. in your email program, outlook, yahoo, hotmail or whatever, you attach the document by clicking on the attach option usually identified with a paper clip. When you click this the process is similar regardless, just navigate to your desktop (or wherever you saved the scan) and select it and attach.

How do I use my Scan feature and send the image by e-mail?


If your drivers are instaled correctly, the BROTHER Control Center working fine, and you have setup a mail account in say OUTLOOK or another e-mail software, you can scan to e-mail.
Put the document on the flatbed or the ADF, open the Control Center. Select the Scan function, and the Scan to email option.
The document will be scanned, the e-nail software will open, inviting you to enter the email address. that is all it takes.

I have a lexmark 464de mfp. How do i setup scan to e-mail on windows 7 on this network printer?


Multi-function printers cannot scan and then e-mail the scanned image. They can scan and then fax a document.
You need to scan the document, then save the scanned image, open your e-mail program and create the e-mail then attach the image file (file attachment) to the e-mail before you send the e-mail.

How do i scan a document so i can email it?


You need equipment (scanner, copier/scanner/printer, etc... to scan your document. The software will ask you where you want to store/save to a location it on your computer. Then go to your e-mail client and click on new mail. After you fill out "to: i.e. recepient e-mail address", "regarding" etc. Find the tab for "attachment", Click,on attachement tab and locate the scanned document on your PC you wish to attach with the new mail to be send to the recepient.(The attachement will take quite a while depending on the document size). Then click send!!!

I can't scan to e-mail.


Connect the scanner to the PC install the scanner software, place the Document on to the scanner and close then on your PC desktop or open My Computer right click on the scanner icon and select scan picture.
Save the picture or the document, open your e-mail after typing or just how you usually send e-mail, 0n the send option bar/tap select add attachment wait to open then locate the scan doc by browsing the pop-up menu select your scan doc and click OK/ADD the doc will be added to your e-mail message now you can send it.

To use this feature in Windows, a destination must be programmed in the scan setup before scanning to a destination. See Set up the product Scan To button.

Load the originals that are to be scanned face-up in the automatic document feeder (ADF) input tray, with the top of the document forward, and adjust the media guides.

Lift the flatbed scanner lid and load the original that is to be scanned face-down on the flatbed scanner with the top, left corner of the document located in the lower-right corner of the glass. Gently close the lid.

On the product control panel, press Scan To.
Use the arrow buttons to select a file destination.
Press Start Scan or OK to scan the document to a file.

Scanning to e-mail is supported by any e-mail program that supports the Messaging Application Programming Interface (MAPI) protocol. Many versions of popular e-mail programs seem to be MAPI-compliant. See the support information for your e-mail program to determine whether or not it is MAPI-compliant.

How to scan a hard copy, and send in an email?


Hello,
Install the Control Center CC3, if it is not already installed. Connect the MFC-5460CN to the computer. Open the CC3 software. Click the Scan button. You will have the choice to Scan to Picture, Scan to OCR, Scan to E-mail, or Scan to file.
You click to E-mail. The MFC scans the document and opens the default E-mail program (Outlook, Outlook Express), attaches the scanned picture and all that is left for you to do is to supply the E-mail address where the document is to be sent.

If you have problems doing that, scan to file then open the E-mail client to create a new message and attach the file you scanned.

Don't know how to use OCR scan function.


Greetings,
i beleive we have the complete setting detail with us.
1. Press the [Send] tab.
2. Press [Address Book] ([File] or [E-mail] also acceptable).
3. Choose an e-mail address. Press [OK].
4. Press [File Format]. Set to [PDF OCR]. Scan Settings
default to 300 x 300 dpi.
5. Choose [Send Settings]. Add [Name] and [Subject]
to the e-mail.
6. Or choose [Doc. Name OCR] to automatically name
document using initial characters of document text.
7. Press [Done].
8. Place the document on the platen glass or in the ADF.
9. Press [Start] to send document.
