    The problem isn't the router. To clarify I baought a netbook 7 inch. It runs Windows CE 6.0. The wizard indicates the computer is connected to the router but when I click the big e for IE (i don't know what version) It says DNS error. We recently also purchased a Windows 7 laptop that show the same thing. I'm a guy wo builds my own computers and uses Linux a lot. We have 10 computers in the house. Two are permanantly placed and wirelessly connected to the Linksys WTR54G with no problem for 3 years. Just our new equipment won't display internet pages through Internet Explorer.

  • dksafy Apr 28, 2010

    at my last submisison I was shown an accept or reject but had already selected continue. Ther problem is with Internet exporer not the router.

  • dksafy Apr 29, 2010

    Fire fox was already tried on the windows seven laptop. A demo video shows my netbook performing nicely although when it did work when connected to a cable the page loaded very slowly. As I said before the router and the connection are not the problem the page is showing a DNS error in IE. That is what I hoped I could learn a solution for.

  • dksafy Apr 29, 2010

    As I mentioned and have entered unsuccesfully before. The router is a Linksys WRT54G. The router is not the problem. I have two other computers connected wirelessly to it and two that are connected to it wit LAN cables. All of those work. The wizard indicate a connection and shows the strenth of the signal. When I click on Internet explorer It looks for Google (the default for the netbook useing windows CE 6.0) and the page I have entered under internet options. What comes up next is page cannot be displayed. DNS error Inernet Explorer. I have 7seven computers in this house that have been connecte through a lan cable in this house. No 8 because at one time this netbook was too.

  • dksafy Apr 29, 2010

    I do not know how to change that setting but would like to. We are only allowed 5 devices online by the ISP. I only allow four at once with my permission. Normally we have no more than three on and that is the maximum attempted with the new lap top and with the new netbook.

  • dksafy Apr 29, 2010

    I have this same problem with 3 other hot spots that can be connected to with the netbook.

  • dksafy Apr 29, 2010

    Why do I have the same problem with other hotspots?

    I understand about the router problem. I'm going to have more problems getting into that as neither driver for the modem nor the router is installed in the computer that they are connected to. I have had to reinstall windows a couple times all the while being able to use them for 3 years. Shouldn't I be able to see my web pages and not get a DNS problem on the other 3 wifis I can connect to?

  • dksafy Apr 29, 2010

    No matter what I connect to I always display the same IP info.

  • dksafy Apr 30, 2010

    Yes I said that and I said it wasn't the router. With the new router I have the same I P address and default gate. My biggest problem is finding a way to enter these setting manually in the Windows CE 6.0 OS. The always return to 0.0.0.0. Not Windows XP, Vista, or 7. Whenever I click on the wireless icon and bring up the window RT28701 I get zeros. Clicking renew does nothing. IPv6 info is all not available. Wireless information shows all available hot spots. I can connect to them but once I click IE I go to a DNS server error and page cannot be displayed. With the new router WRT54G2 everything is the same except the network name and security entries. I receive excellent signal strength on mine net and good on some others. I can't get any info from any of the others.

    the zeros are show in the connection wizard on the netbook. Here is the router info.

    these are the same as the old router had. the zeros appear only in RT28701. Not trying to beat you up.

Hi! Two things that causes you this. Its either the internet provider is down or on maintenance status or your wireless router is bad. Hopefully its just the internet provider for if its the router you may need to get a new one. Hope this helps and have a good one!

If no internet pages are loading through the cable of the router hooked to the modem and you have tried reseting it then reset your modem. If this does not work there should be hard reset buttons on the routers, use those. Factory settings enabled should be able to help start you out in the right direction.

    Did you try using command prompt to flush dns and then renew? That should give you a new ip. Sometimes windows can try and repair it from diagnose connection sometimes not. IE is very picky that way.

    The problem is that every router has a feature where in you will decide the number of computers that can connect to the router at any given time. If you set the value to 4 you cannot connect more than 4 devices at the same time. You need to login into the router and increase the value as required. Do you know how to change this setting?

  • eagle338
    eagle338 Apr 29, 2010

    The setting is called DHCP setting. The default value is 50 but your ISP must have changed it. Change this value to a higher one to be able to connect more systems. Please refer to page 8 of the manual for detailed info

    Change the subnet mask to 255.255.255.0. Use the PC which is connected to the internet and openhttp://www.whatismyip.com/. Then copy that IP and update it. Note that this updating stuff should be perfomed on the system that is not able to connect to net. Not on the router. Let me know if you have any further queries.

  • eagle338
    eagle338 Apr 30, 2010

    You said it yourself that the connection displays the IP address as
    I P Address

    0.0.0.0

    Subnet Mask

    0.0.0.0
    Don't you think these are wrong? And your lease has expired on 1/3/2010 which was a long way back . I would like you to check the lease time as well which is described in the page 8 of the manual.

  • eagle338
    eagle338 Apr 30, 2010

    That IP addresses starting 192.xxx are the local IPs . I am not talking about that. I am talking about the WAN IP the one that you can check on a computer connected to the internet. Check out the screenshot below. You need to first know whether you have a static or dynamic IP and then configure your local PC with that.

  • eagle338
    eagle338 Apr 30, 2010

    Yes that is the IP I was talkin' about. You should configure the internet connection on the PC that you want to connect using that IP. You should also enter the MAC address of the PC that you are trying to connect.

Hi. What is the brand and model of your router? Do you know the username and password to configure your router? Do you have other computers on the network that can connect to internet properly?

    Can you download firefox (www.firefox.com) on other PC and install it on the machine that couldn't connect to the internet. Let's see if Firefox can connect to the internet. I need to know if its IE error or something is blocking the connection on that PC. Can you verify if you are getting the same DNS and gateway you have on the PC that has internet connection and on the same network.

    If your problem is IE, please try this:

    Close IE

    Click Start then Run, type in CMD, press Enter

    Type this into the command prompt:

    netsh winsock reset catalog (press enter key)
    netsh int ip reset reset.log (press enter key)

    Restart your computer.

    You don't have IP address, gateway and DNS and your DHCP lease expired on Jan. 3, 2010. At this point, I believed we need to look at your router settings and see how it is connected to your ISP and how it is serving DHCP. It is not just IE problem. Please quote the name of the solution provider so i would know if you are referring to my post. Thank you.

    Connect to the wireless that you are referring to and get the ip address, subnet mask, gateway, DNS servers, dhcp server, lease acquire/expiry. Also, give me the same info of oneof your computer connected on your home router. Thanks.

    Set your IP address to Static and see if you can connect .

  • Liza Halbrook
    Liza Halbrook Apr 30, 2010

    To add static IP on your Windows CE machine, add the following to your registry.

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\PCI\RT2807\Parms\TcpIp]

    "EnableDHCP"=dword:0

    "DefaultGateway"=multi_sz:"192.168.1.1"

    "UseZeroBroadcast"=dword:0

    "IpAddress"=multi_sz:"192.168.2.95"

    "Subnetmask"=multi_sz:"255.255.255.0"

    Note:
    Do not use 192.168.1.100 and above on "IpAddress"=multi_sz:" to avoid IP conflict.

How To Fix Google Chrome Error 105?

Error 105 indicates that Chrome can't find a DNS server.

Without a DNS server, a browser can't find a web page using a domain name (such as google.com) and therefore cannot surf the web.

If you have another browser, such as Edge, Internet Explorer, or Firefox and they cannot reach google.com either, then you are either not connected to a network with internet access or your browser has been hijacked.

If you are on a windows computer, use Windows+R or click in the Run box on your start menu and type cmd to pull up a command window. type >ping google.com and hit enter... if it pings the address successfully, then you have DNS and your browser has been clobbered.

Otherwise try connecting to another network, contact your network administrator, or examine your TCP/IP settings for your current network adapter and set your Preferred DNS server to 8.8.8.8 (google's DNS server) and the Alternate DNS to 4.4.4.4 (also google). This should give you access to the whole internet via domain names.

Instructions
    • 1 Refresh the page that failed to load. If the page reloads, you just had a momentary lapse in service that happens with most providers. Between each following step, try refreshing the page to see if the problem is resolved.
    • 2 Check the page address you typed into the address bar to make sure it is spelled right. An error in the URL address could cause this error message.

When i try to even access the internet on my touch screen huawei m750 phone it displays dns not set on the screen. how do i fix this problem?

Hi,
DNS stands for Domain Name Service. Most DNS errors usually indicate lack of a connection to the internet. DNS is used to translate human addresses (for example, www.bhcblog.com) into computer addresses (like 10.64.254.11) ..
This error occurs due to fault in network, Therefore contact your network operator and ask them to solve the problem. Alternatively you can re-install or recreate the internet profile manually with IP address and DNS server address... for this also you should contact your network operator and ask them to provide you the IP and DNS Server address...
Hope this has helped you.. THanks

Connect ps3 to laptop via web and walk

Connecting PS3 to a network I have LinkSys wireless router which is working perfectly for other devices (like laptop, Xbox360, TiVO). My wireless network is configured to NOT broadcast the SID and with a WEP key. After entering this manually in the network setup on my PS3, I was able to obtain an ip address from my router, I was able to open the configureation page on my router, but connecting to the internet would fail with some kind of DNS error. The way this was resolved for me, was to enter the DNS server addresses manually in the PS3 network settings AND use tetertiary DNS server from my ISP as either the primary or the secondary DNS server. ..btw, this also fixed the similar problem I had with my PSP.. Thanks!

Cant get internet connection on my ps

first check wether you received a valid ip address for your local network. usually, this should be something like 192.168.x.y. if so, then you might indeed face a dns issue. dns is used to resolve web site names to ip address. usually, your ip service provider will broadcast the external dns servers for your router to recognize.

try to connect with a computer first. if it works, check the ip settings. if your computer also cannot connect without explicit dns server settings you can do one of the following:
- explicit dns server address in ps3. go to "advanced internet connection settings", and then to "dns settings" and set the dns server address
- purchase a 30$ network router and hook it between your internet and the ps3. in the router settings, set the dns server address to be broadcasted to the clients. you can use 168.126.63.1 and 2 which are dns servers in korea (i live in korea), but you might want to find the server near to your location or promoted by your isp
