Model 911514 starting problems

Recently tuned up and it still starts very hard. has fresh fuel and spark plug. Air cleaner is clean. When running it sputters and engine takes a long time to get up to speed. After engine is warm you have to let it set for 15 minutes before it will start again

If this model has the Tecumseh engine, you should have a primer button on it. These can go bad and the fuel lines also. Check to see when you prime it if fuel is flowing through the lines. If not replace the button and the fuel lines. Be sure to make a sketch of where the lines are hooked up.

Mtd yardworks walk behind starts then idles down shuts off after 20 seconds whats wromg

Usually when a mower dies, it is a fuel delivery problem. Have you changed the filter? Is the gas fresh. Also has the air filter and spark plug been changed recently? the Carburetor may need to cleaned. Take the air cleaner off and spray some carb cleaner in the throat of the carb. Also, take about 1/3 bottle of carb/fuel system cleaner and add it to the gas in the tank.. For the new mower engines, there is no fine-tune adjustments on the carburetor. Also clean the exterior of the carb with carb spray.

The last time we used the machine worked fine. Now when we try to use the machine, it won't start. It will turn over a little, but that's it. We have tried on several occasions to get it started...

Make sure the fuel is fresh (not older than 30 days). Never use old fuel unless it has an additive such as "Stabil" in it. Remove and clean or replace the spark plug. Make sure it is getting spark. With the plug out, shoot a couple good shots of carb/choke aerosol cleaner into the engine. Reinstall plug immediately. Choke it and try to start it. If you can get it running that way, the normal fuel flow through the carburetor may resume. Any other number of things could be wrong, but the machine has to have 1. Compression 2. Clean Fresh Fuel 3. Clean Air 4. Strong Spark (blue color). Mostly, the problem with these is a fuel supply problem, which consists of the fuel filter, fuel lines, internal parts of the carburetor and condition of ALL sealing gaskets on the engine. Any air leak will result in a no start condition. There is no majic fix. The ethanol in the gas now wrecks havoc on these little machines. Check all the above. Try the carb cleaner and post back with results.

Have gts toro, engine starts then stops can not get it started.. r s

Your mower engine has to have these things WORKING to run: 1. Compression (engine in good shape) 2. Strong Spark (magneto air gap has to be correct for strong spark) 3. Clean air ( good, clean air filter w/no air leaks) 4. Clean, fresh fuel supply (gas less than 30 days olds with an inline filter installed in mower's fuel line). These things are assuming the mower hasn't struck an immovable object such as concrete, tree stump etc. recently. This will shear the flywheel key and timing may be off so far that engine won't start. So, where would you like to start my friend? Try checking these things. In the meanwhile....we can try to "coax" the engine into running. Remove the spark plug. Get an aerosol can of carb/choke cleaner spray. Spray a couple of shots into the engine. Reinstall plug. Choke the carb and attempt to start. This may or may not work, according to the conditions listed earlier. If this doesn't get it running, remove the plug and try it again.
We are trying to get it to run on its own, so it will start (or attempt to start) drawing fuel from the carburetor. Sometimes the brass bolt that holds the carburetor float bowl on gets clogged. You drain the gas, remove the bolt and clean all the small hole in the bottom and along the sides of it. This bolt is also the main jet of the carb. Cleaning this with carb cleaner can only help. If you do this, use NO metal objects to poke or scrape the bolt. The holes are metered and have to stay that way. Check for spark, check your air filter, see if the plug gets wet after you attempt to start. If it doesn't get wet or even smell like gas, then likely you have a fuel flow problem. Try ALL these things and post back; and again, if you have hit something solid recently with the mower, you will have the replace the flywheel shear key. It is a small aluminum $1.00 part so don't worry. Post back as needed. We wish to help.

Wont start

Remove the spark plug and check for spark. If snappy and blue with a fresh plug gapped at 0.020", then pour a little fuel mix into the plug hole and try for start. If it pops or runs for a few seconds, then look for fuel delivery problems. Check the fuel filter, air cleaner, and muffler for plugging. Check the fuel lines for decay or other problems. If no help, remove the carburetor, disassemble and clean the interior with spray carburetor cleaner. Inspect the diaphragm in the lower chamber for flexibility with no holes or cracks. Make sure the fuel is fresh and properly mixed with a modern synthetic saw oil. Be sure to shake the container thoroughly each time time just before filling the tank to prevent oil starvation. Hope this helps!

Make sure you have fresh clean fuel in the mower. Has the mower been setting for a while? Make sure your air cleaner is not plugged. Try starting with fresh fuel and the air cleaner off. Let me know if the cord tries to pull back or you have hit anything with the mower blade recently.

Need to verify fuel pressure at the injector rail with the engine cranking and with the key on and engine off. Specification is 55 - 61psi. The pressure should build with one cycle of the key. If the pressure is slow to build up there may be a restriction in the system between the pump and fuel rail .
The system should hold pressure without leaking down. If it leaks down there is a problem. If all is good there Checking for a good blue spark at several plugs to verify the ignition system is working ok. A vacuum leak could also cause a hard start issue.
A bad pick up coil or weak crank sensor can cause hard start issues also.
