Question about Computers & Internet

1 Answer

Two Questions: How can I keep my material on my computer safe for life, so that if my computer crashes I won't lose anything ever? I have Windows XP. What do I need in order to download pictures onto my computer from a Kodak DC215 Zoom? What kind of cord do I need (I lost it years ago), and what are the steps in downloading (I lost the booklet years ago too)?

    Hi Again!

Is there a printer that will be compatible with my Dell computer that prints very nicely, and the ink is cheap to buy? Also, do you know the answer to my second question in my first communication with you?

Hi Again, Thank you for your prompt responses. I want to make sure I understand what you're telling me. I can buy a $5 Memory Card from Ebay? You said "car", but you mean card, right?

Do you know what I need to download pictures onto my computer from a Kodak DC215 Zoom (older camera)? What kind of cord do I need and what are the steps in downloading?

What is the $5 memory card reader for? I don't have any memory cards, and wouldn't know how to use one.

Buy a portable USB harddrive (avail at all electronics stores) and download all the files onto that drive u want saved on a regular basis, to do this go to the start menu, then select "All programs", then select Accessories, then in the next menu select System Tools and then in Tools select Backup, follow the on screen instructions for a fully automatic backup as far as keeping them safe use this program, it is free, scan the computer once a week for spy-ware and other harmful intrusion software, here is a link to the spyware/malware program download.

How to get my 5000friends list back after factory reset?

If the data was stored on your hard drive there is no way you can retrieve it yourself just as anything else stored there that was loaded by you is lost when you take your PC back to factory default settings. (A forensic computer specialist might be able to find it on the hard drive if it has not been overwritten by now (likely it has) but that will cost you very big bucks and you may get zero result).

Anything you file on your PC of value you must back up. Just copying to a USB drive is usually good enough and these are very cheap. Printing a hard copy of data and filing it away safely is also better than losing something important. PCs can die or crash or fail to load the operating system or just cease to work properly at any time and keeping any important information to you filed away on the PC without back up is always a bad idea.

I my computor is completely crashed out i cant get email only games help

On-line games are the cause of many crashes. They are fraught with malware. You may have a virus, malware, adware, a browser hijacker, or pups (potentially unwanted programs).

A. If your computer will boot and you can operate it ok...

Download and install Malwarebytes and Superantispyware (Note: If you can\'t do the download on your machine, do it on a friend\'s, put them on a thumb drive, and install them from it). Then scan your computer with each program, and quarantine anything found.

B. If your computer won\'t boot, or can\'t operate properly after boot...

Tap F8 when you are booting, select "Safe Mode With Networking". Download and install Malwarebytes and Superantispyware (Note: If you can\'t do the download on your machine, do it on a friend\'s, put them on a thumb drive, and install them from it). Then scan your computer with each program, and quarantine anything found.

C. If this process finds malware, to keep stuff like that from coming back, I recommend you get the paid version of Malwarebytes.

Keep on restarting

Chances are that if your machine keeps restarting, it is crashing with a "blue screen of death" and the bios is set to restart when that happens. Unfortunately, that doesn't allow you to get a clue as to why it is happening..

Usually, you can keep tapping the F8 key (you know, the one for safe boot) and there is usually an option to disable auto restart. This won't fix your problem, but at least you will get to see the blue screen and look at the diagnostic message to find out what is causing the crash

Windows 7 crash on windows is loading when i boot

If you can boot to safe mode, but do not get anything on the screen, try pressing CTRL+SHIFT+ESC to bring up task manager. See if anything is running. If you don't have anything, it could be that you need to start explorer.exe. You may need to pull your hard drive, backup your files and reload the OS.

Acer computer keeps crashing

Best thing to try before anything is to run your computer in safe mode.
Make sure the computer is off and not in sleep or in hibernate.
Power the computer on and click the F8 key till you see below image.
Image is from a Windows 7 - Most versions of windows will be the same Or similar. Screen defaults to 640 X 480 in safe-mode!
Choose safe mode with networking. If while running your computer in safe mode and it never blue screens - Then chances are, you have a software, driver or virus issue - Most cases. If your computer continues to crash in safe mode. Your system most likely has a hardware issue. Common: Computer Memory and/or hard drive.

Looks most likely that your Moms' hard disk has some bad sector on the boot drive. The best you can do is to reinstall the laptop. You may have to hand over the laptop to someone who is good with computer and has the OS disk to this this for you.

You will have to boot up into safe mode with networking first.
This is accomplished by pushing F8 while the computer is booting up.
Once you get into safe mode with networking you will have to download two programs
these both can be downloaded at
Run malware bytes first make sure it updated remove anything that it finds
Then clean internet history with ccleaner
then boot computer up regular and run ccleaner clear internet history and reg cleaner
then run malware bytes on more time,
good luck
