There are several things that could be causing this I will TRY to address or suggest on all of them.

1.) If only appears when copying, double check the glass and make sure those areas are cleaned.

2.) If happens at all times, it could be the toner cartridge in the unit (especially if started when just changed). I would try another cartridge (later if you can stand the copies w/ the lines or if you have a spare).

3.) I have seen a lot of these machines do this putting vertical lines down the side of the paper because the fuser assembly has worn out and needs replaced.

I have seen #3 occur sometimes when paper gets jammed in a machine and someone pulls it out too rough, this can cause the slick cover over the fuser to crack, break, or bunch up, needing replaced.

Hope this helps you.

It could be 2 things...

1. Your scanner glass is dirty...open the doc feeder and clean the glass. probably Wite-Out.

2. A segment of your scanner assembly lamp is burned out. Not good, uneconomical to repair.

Lines of copies utilizing automatic feeder

look to the side of your big glass and you'll see a piece of glass about 1.5" wide. thats the galss that is used for scanning from the feeder. theres got to be something on that glass. possibly white-out or even a small speck of toner can cause that. look closely.

3-INCH WIDE VERTICAL LINES RUND DOWN LEFT SIDE OF FAX MACHINE

Do your incoming faxes have the same marks?
If not you might find that the scanning part of your machine has a dirty mark on the glass or that the unit has become faulty.
Try and take a copy from the machine and print from a report or any print from memory.
If you have the black lines on both then i'd suggest getting a new drum unit, if u have it only on the copy I would have a look at your scanner glass and see if there is a dirty mark on it. if not maybe call out an engineer as the scanner unit maybe faulty.
Need anymore help msg me.

Panasonic Panafax UF-885 - Heavy lined marks down side of paper

First print a report to see if the lines appear without using the scanner. If this is the case clean the charge wire. If you pin it down to the scanner, it is probably a poor solder joint on the cis unit. Take it out and run a hot soldering iron over all the joints on the reverse side of the cis.

Grey Band/lines across page

your problem could be one of many things first try stoping the copy half way in the machine. to do this open the front door and cheat the door switch with some folded up paper or use a flat screw driver to bypass the switch. make a copy and watch the paper when in goes into the drum and starts to come out like 3 inches pull the screw driver or paper out of the switch. carefully pull the paper out from the machine and see if the image is ok. if the marks are there the problem is with the drum. if the image is clear and there is no marks then open the left door on the copier and inspect the rollers in the heat unit. to do this open the left door the front door has to be open to do this. there is a little green lever on the right side pull this down and look at the 2 roller if you see marks on the top roller or dirt on the lower roller this is your problem. also check the miliage reading on the drum if there is a sticker and check the meter on the machine the drum is rated for 55,000 copies.
