Question about Motorola Office Equipment & Supplies

Open Question

I have an MC9090 that will not connect to wireless. All of our other scanners will. It will connect at our other location with the same settings (except the location of wifi changed). I have reinstalled the OS, rechecked all settings. It tries to connect, but can't. It is in enable mode. I've had our connections checked, and they're good, which I assumed since the others are ok. What else can I check? Steph

How to change host on mc9090

Wireless Local Area Networks (WLANs) allow mobile computers to communicate wirelessly and send captured data to a host device in real time. Before using the mobile computer on a WLAN, the facility must be set up with the required hardware to run the wireless LAN and the mobile computer must be configured. Refer to the documentation provided with the access points (APs) for instructions on setting up the hardware. To configure the mobile computer, a set of wireless applications provide the tools to configure and test the wireless radio in the mobile computer. The Wireless Application menu on the task tray provides the following wireless applications: • Wireless Status • Wireless Diagnostics • Find WLANs • Manage Profiles • Options • Enable/Disable Radio • Log On/Off Tap the Signal Strength icon to display the Wireless Applications menu

How do I get Symbol / Motorola MC9090 wireless settings to be

This is an old post but I'll give my solution anyway!

I anticipate that you're not exporting the connections:
Open the Wireless Menu icon on the task bar (Close "Manage Profiles" if it is open, select "options".

Select from the drop down "Regulatory" and select your country of operation (e.g USA), de-select "Enable 802.11 d", click Save.

Select from the drop down "Export", click "Export Options", click OK top right, click "Export All Profiles", click OK top right.

Now if a cold boot is performed the device will retain the added network profiles.

Cheers!

I have an MC9090 with windows mobile 5.0. I was wondering if it is typical to have two symbol PHOTON WLAN drivers appear on the network card connections list

Dont worry about that. Anyhow the connection is handled through Fusion software and not windows settings. Icon on the today screen in the right down corner.

I cannot set the static IP for my MC9090. I went into Network Connections and have tried to Specify a valid IP address, Subnet and Gateway. I press ok. Then when I run cmd, I then type ipconfig and it...

Hi Jim,

I remember having the exact same problem when I first used the MC9090. It works on such other devices like the Datalogic Viper, but not the MC9090.

The IP is set within the wireless profile.

On the radio icon in the task bar select Wireless Profiles. This box then holds all your wireless profiles, including the default Motorola "out of box". Hold down the stylus on the screen and select "Add New" follow the prompts. When you get to IP Address from the pull down menu select static and then next this will take you to another screen where you can add your details.

Now you want to make them persist through either a cold boot or when the terminal has been left without a battery for a substantial amount of time.

This can be done 2 ways. When the profile has been set up highlight it by holding down the stylus on it and from the menu select export. This saves the registry key to the Application folder; a folder which persist through a cold boot. When it does cold boot it takes all the registry keys from the Application folder and builds 1 complete key.

The other way is to close the WLAN profile and selection options, from the pull down menu select export and save all profiles.

Hope this helps.

Connecting to the internet

Hi there, this one might help since the OS is Windows mobile 5. the settings on your handheld might be quite different but still this may work. Please turn on wi-fi. There is a small icon below for wireless simply tick that and it will turn on wi-fi. Once you turn it on it will detect available wireless networks or you may simply go to Start menu and select settings. Go to connections and select network. It will give you available wireless networks. If prompted for the pass key or encryption, use the encryption set to the wireless network you're trying to connect with. Once you input the correct key you should be good to go.

Hope this helps
