I've initialized the camera many times but the error still comes back. I never had this issue for almost 2 years but it just happened and it's so annoying. what should I do to fix it?

I have the W-55, and have had this error code, so LONG, I hardly ever use it anymore. It will not flash, and the error code is a PAIN. It went back to Laredo, Texas, came back, and right away, started doing it again. Second camera ( I bought another, same PROBLEM ), I personally think it is RIDICULOUS that a company such as "SONY", has only 1 repair center in the USA. I will not pay a dime to have it privately repaired, and I think Sony knows this, and hopes we will all go out again, and buy another, for around $200 SMACKER'OOS. Not me. I am also having problems with my SONY DSC-H7, a relatively more expensive Camera. The Rotation Camera Adjuster, freezes up. Guess what they say: send it to Laredo, Texas. Yeah right. Approx. $35.00 w/ insurance, from my pocket! I would like to have an L.G. Camera. Their HDTV's SMOKE SONY! I have 5 L.G.'s.

I hear many people having problems with these cameras. Why people buy these cameras if there are so many brands out there even better? Sony Cybershots are bad!!! Face it!!! Do they care if you have a broken camera in your house? NO!!! Why? because they want you to pay and pay and pay like having problems with it is not enough. Would they fix them for free??? Only on your dreams!!! Sony is just a name that unfortunately, in Cybershot cases not a good idea to deal with. I do not recommend this camera to anyone and inclusive, I tell whoever I can DO NOT BUY CYBERSHOTS! And the major issue? The lenses they claim to be the best of the best!!! WOOOFFF!!! I DO NOT THINK SO> two thumbs down. Solution? GET RID OF IT AND BUY CANON OR SOMETHING ELSE.

I've had the camera for about 2 years. Have had this problem twice. All I've done is follow the manual to reset/initialize the camera's original settings. After that it works pretty good.

USE A HAMMER AND A BLOW TORCH... IT ALWAYS WORKS.

Posted on Sep 23, 2008

I contacted Sony, they had me send it to Laredo, Texas. I got it back in about 2 weeks. Cost me about $30.00 or so for shipping out there. I received it back, with mumbo jumbo talk, and a list of parts. I week later, SAME PROBLEM! I refuse to go through this again! I'm pretty much done with "Sony", and I own about 5 varieties of their cameras. When you figure the cost of the camera, losing use for a couple weeks, and the shipping, it's just not worth it, to do same again! I think their customer service is very poor, having to send from Florida to Texas, and wait 2 weeks or more!

I have a sony cybershot dsc w55 with error e:91:01. i have pressed the reset button and initialised the camera numerous times. the error is removed but the camera will not take a picture in auto or p mode...

E:91:01 is an error code that indicates problem with flash unit circuit in camera.
Flash unit board will be replaced to resolve this problem and temporary fix is to set flash Off quickly, before error could appear after initializing camera, hope this info will help you.
Thanks.

Error:91:01 how do you get rid of it?

Hi,
Follow the procedures given below to have a perfect fix for your problem.
  • Press Menu button.

  • Toggle across from REC Mode to setup

  • Toggle down thrice from camera to setup 1

  • Toggle across into sub menu

  • Toggle down from four times to Initialize

  • Toggle across again to the sub-menu

  • Toggle up from cancel to OK

  • Press center button to accept the OK choice

  • Screen changes and so press okay again

  • It should restart the camera

  • Opening on the 'Clock Set' screen

Toggle down to cancel and use the camera and make sure that you have the camera to flash, if it works try again in the Auto function. If it is still not working dont worry follow the steps again two or three more times, As this is related to a software error message and not a hardware malfunction. If it is working then don't forget to set your Clock.

I tried using my camera using auto flash but no flash came out. Error E:91:01 keep on flashing in my camera.

This may be solved by doing a reset to the camera. There is a setting in the menu called Initialize, and it should reset the camera back to factory default.

Word of warning though. You will lose any pictures on it when you do this, so download them first. You will probably have to re-enter the date and time after this as well.

Error E91:01 on DSC H7

If the camera works in all other respects, then that has something to do with the flash setting or some other setting in the menus. But this sounds like something with the flash directly.

Here is a link which may be able to help on the DSC H7: http://www.aakatz.com/whitepaper/whitepaper/appendix2.htm

Try also to reset all the menu setting back to what it was for the factory. Most digital cameras have a setting for that, and usually is something like "RESET ALL" or something close to that.

If nothing works, then the camera needs repair. This is an error to do with the flash only, it appears. So some of the internal parts could be weak, thus causing the error.
