Question about Dometic Rooftop RV Air Conditioner

1 Answer

Compressorruns fora short time

My LG Intelloair window ac blows cool air till the desired temperature (say 25 degress) is reached & then stops. After that the room temperature starts rising again but the compressor doesn't start again till the temp is a good 5-6 degrees (30-31 degress) above what is desired. What could be the problem?

The thermostat controlling your unit likely has a window type of programming for digital or mechanical adjustment for older style thermostat that sets a minimum off temp and a maximum on temp, there may be an adjustment to set the range it operates at, otherwise you may have a defective thermostat controller unit and it needs replacing also insure that the temperature sensing element is clean and free of dust build-up and your filter is clean

My 18,000 BTU LG window AC: The compressor wont shut off.

replace the thermostat
of course it will not stop if the air in the room is not controlled ( doors open , window open, room to big fore the ac unit or if the temp control is set too low ( 25 c is optimum setting)

Cool air when running; warm air when compressor is off.

It sounds as if warm outside air is being drawn back into the room when the unit is not actively cooling. Portable units depend on room air to carry the heat outside, & therefore will not work properly if the room is too airtight. Provide a makeup air passage by leaving the door slightly open, & see if this helps. Use a room thermometer to see if your desired temperature is being reached. Note that if the wind is strong & coming from the wrong direction, it may not be possible to prevent warm air drawback.

Why cools the ac only 1 hour full power and never reaches the set-point temperature ?

check that all the doors and windows are closed as ac units do not work well when trying to cool the world
is the ac unit too small for the room size
I suspect that because it is working the problem is outside the ac control
is the inside fan working and blowing out cold air

LG split unit AC works perfectly for 2 hours and then it stops blowing cool air

Check the amp draw on the condenser fan motor against the rating on the nameplate. motor may be getting weak and shuts down on thermal overload. If the amps are high you have a motor going bad, change it.

Intermittent colling in Samsung Window AC

so your reported figures show that the unit is operating as planned
the closer to ambient temp the shorter it runs for
the further away from ambient temp the longer it runs for
when the desired temp is reached , the compressor will stop but the fan will continue to run to circulate air past the thermostat so that it will switch back on when the room temp reaches too high temp
and that is why it is recommended to set the temp at 25 C as that is the most economical temp to run it at

WILL ONLY BLOW COOL AIR.ALSO SHOULD FAN OUTSIDE BE TURNING ALL THE TIME WHEN IN USE

It is important to set a normal temperature on the AC as a lower setting will make the outside unit to keep working so as to get to the lower temperature. So unless the temperature is reached it will not cut off.
Ideally choose a ramge of 25-27 *C for the room as the normal room temp ideal for humans is 28*C.

Hi there, I have a LG ac through wall/window unit LWHD1200FR 11,500 BTU. It's have a Open vent/Close vent mechanism by the front louver from where the cool air comes out. I would like to know what...

The OPEN is to be used when the air temperature is cool enough, not to have to use the AC. When it's open, the fan continues to operate and pulls cool air in from the outside and circulates it inside the room. Generally, this is only used at night, when temperatures are milder and there's less humidity. When it's CLOSED, the AC is in cooling mode and only the inside air is used to cool and is exhausted as needed. Hot, humid days & nights are when it should remain closed.

I hope this helped you & thanks for choosing FixYa.

I want to know how to have a better cooling with the 1.5 ton LG intelloair window AC......what shud b the reading.....at present it reads indoor 35 and desired 18

I would start wiyh a thourogh cleaning of the coils and blower. If you have service ports check to make sure you have the proper amount of refridgerant. If you do not have service oorts you can put some on that just clamp over the pipes and are self tapping. Hope this helps you. Thanks.
