Question about Acer Aspire One Netbook 8.9" Notebook

2 Answers

My Nieghbor loaded at least 3 rogue anti-virus programs onto her Acer. The netbook has 2 legitimate users. Most control panel, security center and other critical applications have been blocked from use declaring that "The system administrator has disabled the function" or that the .exe is infected" (example: Task Manager). The 3 rogues are 1. Security Tool. 2. AntiVirus Pro 2010. 3. HomeVirusScan 2010. At this point I think that all I can do is save the users files and reformat. What do you think?

Try installing and running this progam on FULL scan first of all.

Then, if your security anti-virus program is not very good, and it seems like it is noty very good at all, remove it from the add and remove programs and download and install this security program., AVG Free Edition.

To help keep your PC from connecting to known rouge web sites, you should download and install this. Spywareblaster, it does not scan or remove anything, but it does provide your internet connection with a list of restricted sites to prevent the PC from connecting to known rouge web sites.

Also be sure that you have only one anti-virus program installed and running on your PC or a conflict can occur. These programs that I have for you to download will work very well together without any conflicts on your PC.

The AVG program can be set to automatically update and scan when you want it to, usually in the middle of the night when there is not anyone using the PC. It can be set in tools, advanced settings, schedules.

The other two programs are free, but the free editions will not automatically update or scan for you and you will need to manually run these programs, but they are very powerful and do what they promise to do, and manually updating and scanning the PC is trivial compared to how effective these programs are. You should run Malwarebytes whenever you get off of the internet, and check for updates before you run the scan.

Sounds like spyware still got thru even with all the anti-virus programs running. Best thing to do is to save all the important data onto an external drive or flash drive and then reformat the drive and reinstall the drivers for the hardware and put the applications that you want back onto the computer. This time only install one anti-virus program onto the computer.

Windows Security Center alert ?

The fake Windows Security Center is a virus that invades a computer and threatens the user that his computer is infected with multiple viruses. Although this "tool" looks legitimate, it is actually rogue malware. It can be time-consuming to remove this fake Windows Security Center from your computer, but you can do it for free.

Download and install a legitimate free anti-malware program, such as Malwarebytes Anti-Malware (malwarebytes.org), on your computer. Restart your computer and hold down the "F8" key for a few seconds before the Windows logo appears to start the computer in safe mode. Run the anti-malware program and allow it to perform a full scan of your system. This may take hours, depending on a number of factors, but allow the anti-malware software to do its job so that you will be able to fully remove fake Windows Security Center from your computer. http://www.malwarebytes.org/ rather than pay for it http://corbitek-antimalware.soft32.com/free-download Free reliable antimalware solution with realtime protection and automatic update Click to put a check mark next to all of the malware files detected in the scan and click "Delete." Download and install CCleaner (piriform.com/ccleaner). http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner This free program will scan and clean out all temporary files on your computer. Run the program, and when it finishes, your computer should be free from the fake Windows Security Center. Restart your computer to exit safe mode.

I cannot log onto the internet, games on my pc as it keeps saying i have to buy something called security shield. even though we already have anti virus software installed, it's been identified as

I think you have been attacked by a rogue antivirus. It claims to be an antivirus or some sort of security software, but it actually isn't. You can get rid of it by creating a new user account by going in to the control panel. Afterwards, restart the PC and get in to that user account. From that account you will be able to go to the internet. Open up the browser and go to this website www.malwarebytes.org and download that Anti-malware security suit, install it and run it. Do a quick scan and delete all the threats that are detected. Make sure you delete it from the quarantine folder as well. After that, restart the PC and log in to your regular account. Do that same from that account. If all the things are done, you won't see that rogue software in the computer. You can delete the other user account you've just created after that.

You've got yourself a rogue anti-virus that is a form of computer malware that deceives or misleads users into paying for the fake or simulated removal of malware and won't let you do anything on the computer. Follow the instructions on this link to get rid of it.

If you are positive you have any anti virus installed, you can disable the notification.

Click Start, then go to Control Panel. In Control Panel, open Security Center.

On the left hand side of the window, click " Change the way security center alerts me"

Uncheck Virus Protection and click OK.

Hi! i have a acer aspire one, everytime i switch my laptop on it pops up with a privacy center and i cant get rid of it?

Privacy Center, or PrivacyCenter, is a rogue anti-spyware program designed to trick users into purchasing its full rogue version. Privacy Center looks similar to Privacy Components. Privacy Center may infect your computer through a Trojan, spam emails or it may have come bundled with another malicious program. Privacy Center sells itself as an effective spyware remover tool, however, all it does is make you believe you're infected with numerous spyware threats to offer its "licensed" program.

Go to the link below and download and run MalwareBytes Anti-Malware program. When it installs it will ask to update and run, please do both. Once it updates, run the program and perfrom a QUICK scan only. When it is through scanning it will ask you to click on the show results button. When you do that it will show you the infections it has found, make sure they are all selected and delete them. You should be malware free now.

Why does windows security center show that my anti virus isn't working when it is. I don't have a green light.

What OS and what Anti Virus program are you running?
The OS will recognize some AV products and not others. You can tell the Operating system you will monitor the Anti-Virus software yourself.

How do i turn off Kaspersky lab to install 2009 security?

Windows Security center is not really useful, and is known to have issues sometimes detecting anti-viruses. Kaspersky suggests that you disable notifications.

To do this,

1. Click Start and then click Control Panel.

2. Double-click Security Center.

3. In the Security Center, under Resources, click Change the way Security Center alerts me.

4. In the Alert Settings dialog box, clear the Virus Protection check box, and then click OK. Thanks for using fixya....
