My garage door will only raise about 5 inches unless i jiggle the arm holding the door. the plate on the garage door that connects to the opener is bent and the bolt does not go in straight. it seems that when opening the door, it kind of shakes or vibrates going up. it closes ok.

It sounds like you have a door problem and something is binding. Might be a good time to get a door technician out to help.

When I go to open the garage door the door only raises 18 inches & stops. I press the remote again & it closes. I sometimes have to open/close the door 10 times before it opens fully.

Is the main spring at the top of your door broken or has it unwound so there is too much pressure when trying to raise the door up. Check that out also check and see if you unlock the door with the rope that's on the overhead connection where the opener looks on the door See if the door will open if you try to open by hand. If its hard to push up either the spring is bad or you are seized some place.

Hold your garage door opener remote two inches away from the onboard system.

Garage door only raises about two inches then stops.

Check the door springs and also remove the cover from the motor unit and check the drive gear. The door spring could be broken or the drive gear may be stripped.

The sensors only work when the door is closing.

Garage door won't raise

Check for a broken door spring and also remove the cover of the motor unit and check the drive gear. The gear may be going bad and it should be obvious.

Garage door not opening properly.

Check the springs on your garage door. If one is broken, the opener will not have enough power to raise up and it will stop like that.Or the up and down limit settings have gone off or bad.

Hi there. I have a Chamberlain Whisper Drive

I just had that problem this morning and the cause was that the springs that help hold the weight of the garage door were broken. This caused the garage door opener to raise the garage door a fe inches and then drop again. We called in a professional and $200 later we had new springs and everything works fine now.

Garage Door Goes down 5 inches and then up 5 inches.

Okay here we go.

Make sure you put the black cup back on the end of the motor shaft and that it is pressed all the way on. Make sure the RPM sensor is plugged in. If neither of these is the issue, then you probably did not have the motor shaft pushed all the way back when you tightened the coupler after replacing the worm gear. Loosen that coupler up and from the front of the motor (opposite end in which the coupler is on) push the shaft back as far as it will go. Hold it there while you tighten the coupler back up and then give it a try.
