Re: Mag & Yel Ink don't work
Replace ALL carts with new ones.
press menu then start bk-copy then fourtimes arrow up quickly one after another. machine turns to maintenance mode. press 7 then 6 then 4 then start bk-copy. machine will initiate the carts and refresh ink in tubes and ph and do some special power cleaning.
when finished press 7 then 6 then 3 then start bk copy. machine will do a power cleaning.
when finished press 9 then 9 to leave maintenance mode.
run a test print.
If you cant see any yellow and/or magenta the ph is defective and needs replacing (this happens mostly because of generic ink which contains the wrong chemical mixture to keep the ph alive).

cant quite understand the type of english used but if the cartridges have been refilled .. the mashine goes through a process of cleaning and realianing the cartridges.if one isnt working then jets have dried out and blocked,in the refil kit is a bottle of solvent, put a bit in saucer, put cartridge in so jets are covered and it will disolve the dry ink
Can you confirm that you are using a CIS or non-HP cartridges with this printer?
It sounds a lot like the printhead has reached a clogging point where sediment has built up in the black portion and loosens enough to printer a few lines before it re-asserts itself again.
Based on my experience of this printer, if you're using a non-HP delivery system for ink then you should consider replacing the black ink with a dyebase alternative instead of pigment.. Replacing the Black/Yellow printhead and running a number of test prints to purge the pigment ink in the printhead should then result in a clean and more reliable printout in future.
One other vector for problems is the cleaning area and I've found that this can become soiled with excess ink causing cross contamination within the inks of one printhead. As yet I've not found a reliable solution to counter this sort of issue.
Hope this gives some clues and hopefully some ideas of a fix.
usually the problem occurs when the ink is running low and a big print job is being done. by then, the printer runs out of ink and starts sucking air into the tubes. If several cleanings dont help, try leaving it off for a couple days, turn it back on, try another cleaning and see what happens. if it still does not work, most likely the printhead will need to be cleaned which will cost about $40 - $65 if cartridges are need too.
If you are you using generic ink, that can cause the problem too.
make sure that you are using genuine Brother ink cartridges.what is on the lcd screen of the brother machine?if no cart, remove all cart.reinstall them.if there is an error message, sorry, but you have to replaced.and your brother machine does not have a green cart.it only has cyan(blue),mag(red),yellow and black.there is a way of cleaning it though
