The HP Mini laptop comes with either the Windows 7 or Windows Vista operating system. You can restore the HP Mini to its factory settings using the laptop's recovery partition. Restoring the HP Mini to its original factory settings will get rid of hard to eliminate viruses on the laptop's hard drive. A factory restoration is also a good way to get rid of older files still stored on the computer that you no longer need and start with a clean slate.
Windows Vista Click "Start" in the lower-left corner of your HP Mini Windows Vista home screen, then type "Recovery" into the Search box at the bottom of the Start menu. Click "Recovery Manager" in the list of options that appears above the Search box. The HP Recovery Manager will open. Click "Advanced Options" and then "System Recovery." Click "Next." Your HP Mini will restart. The HP Recovery Manager will open up automatically after the restart is complete. Click "System Recovery," and then click "Next." Click "No" if a message pops up on your screen asking if you want to use Microsoft System Restore. Select "Recover without backing up your files," and then click "Next." The restoration process begins. This could take between 30 and 90 minutes, depending on the of your hard drive and how much information you have stored on it. The HP Mini will restart when the laptop has been restored to its original factory settings, and you will be prompted to set up Windows Vista. Windows 7 Click the "Start" icon in the lower-left corner of your HP Mini Windows 7 home screen. Click "All Programs" and then click "Recovery Manager." Click "Recovery Manager" again to open the HP Recovery Manager program. Click "System Recovery" from the list of options beneath the "I need help immediately" section on the left side of the program. The HP Mini will automatically restart and open the HP Recovery Manager. Click "System Restore," and then click "Next." Click "No" if a message pops up on your screen asking if you want to use Microsoft System Restore. Select "Recover without backing up your files," and then click "Next." The restoration process could take between 30 and 90 minutes, depending on the of your hard drive and how much information you have stored on it. The HP Mini will restart when the laptop has been restored to its original factory settings, and you will be prompted to set up Windows Vista.
Above link shows what the process looks like, and a how-to, as it loads to the Repair Options.
Neosmart contains the contents of the Windows Vista DVD's
"recovery center," as we've come to refer to it. It cannot be used to
install or reinstall Windows Vista, and just serves as a Windows PE
interface to recovering your PC. Technically, one could
re-create this installation media with freely-downloadable media from
Microsoft (namely the Microsoft WAIK kit, a multi-gigabyte download);
but it's damn-decent of Microsoft to make this available to Windows'
users who might not be capable of creating such
a thing on their own.
Read all info at the website about creating and using it.
Also, ask them if you have a Recovery Partition on your Computer/Laptop to restore it to Factory settings. See if a Manual came with the computer, or go to the
Manufacturer's website, email or phone them for info on how to do a
Normally, you would press F10 or F11 at Startup to commence the Recovery Process..
Another way I have seen on some models is to tap F8, and go to a
list of Startup options, and start a Factory Standards Recovery from in
there, by selecting the Repair computer option.
Try the F8 Option to get into Safe Mode and try to do a System Restore:
Use System Restore. Open System Restore by clicking the Start button , clicking All Programs, clickingAccessories, clicking System Tools, and then clicking System Restore. If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
Choose the first system restore point to restore factory settings. http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/What-is-System-Restore
To restore your laptop to its previous or factory settings try using the system restore option. You can access the System Restore by navigating to Start--> All Programs --> Accessories --> System Tools --> System Restore. After opening the System Restore Tool you select this option " Restore computer to an earlier time". Then you can see the calender displaying the present month and some bold dates in it. You can go back to the month of the purchase your computer and then select one of the bold dates and click "Next". Then the system will restore and it re-starts on its own. A message will be displayed after Restoration is completed. Press "OK" . Thats it, your Computer is set in to Factory Settings. If you face any problem please let us know.
