Yes, it can run DDR333 or 400.  Just that it will run them as DDR266 = slower than what they are capable.

ASUS P4S533-MX MOTHERBOARD FAILED TO RECOGNIZE DDR400/DDR333 RAM

In you case compatibility is your problem or your memory needs a clean up. First clean up the memory's pins. Use a pencil eraser. Then try only one by one so that you will know if there is a problem in each memory. Insert one of the memory then turn on your PC. If it boot up or it is okay try the other one. Then if it is also okay, try both of it inserted and turn on your PC. If it not okay there is a compatibility problem. Make sure the brands are the same so the compatibility are never be a problem.

Is their a special make of memory card, ie: ddr

According to: http://www.shopping.com/xPF-VIA-MB-FOXCONN-VIA-KM400A-400M01-G-6L-R

this motherboard has 2 slots for DDR (184pin) RAM,
and supports a maximum of 1GB of RAM per slot.

Note that DDR RAM comes in 3 speeds: DDR266 (slowest), DDR333, and DDR400 (fastest).

Buy the fastest RAM -- if the motherboard cannot run the RAM at "full" speed, the RAM will automatically slow itself down to a speed that the motherboard will support.

Hello!

Hi,

I think the best solution to your problem would be either to go to www.crucial.com or www.tigerdirect.com . They both have memory configurator tools that will make sure the memory that you are purchasing is compatable with your laptop. That is your safest way to know. I myself prefer tiger direct, they seem to have the lowest prices. the link below will take you right to the memory configurator. If the DDR333 is an option it will let you know. Hope this helps! :)
