Question about Dell Inspiron 6400 Notebook
1) Try to upgrade your bios. You can download it from this link http://support.us.dell.com/support/downloads/download.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=gen&releaseid=R158849&formatcnt=0&libid=0&typeid=-1&dateid=-1&formatid=-1&source=-1&fileid=212350
also you can find the steps of upgrading from there.
2) if it still does not charge up. Turn off the computer. remove the battery. while that is removed. connect the power adaptor and turn on the system. if it opens fine without the battery then you may have a defective battery. if however the system did not start then there might be some issue with regard to the charge module of the system. With the latter part you may need to contact dell technical support for further diagnostics. And if you are still within warranty they may require you to send the system for maintenance.
