Question about RCA CDRW120 2-Disc CD Recorder

1 Answer

Record in real time, drop markers then burn to cd.

Actually, I am looking for something simple where I can record a live D.J. recording set for approx. 80 minutes, drop markers on them and burn the recording to CD. Is there an inexpensive component that can do this because software gives me glitches?

I copy cassettes on my CD-R sometimes and I never know exactly where the cue points will be so I just make the digital source onm a CD-RW with rough manual tracks marks on the first pass with no stops.

Then I digitally copy that CD to another after I find out where the cues should best be placed, marking them manually as they come up. Then I recycle the source CD-RW.

The recorder could not care less what the upstream audio device IS or if it's live vs prerecorded as long as the connection works and there is a signal.

Your new cd player/recorder is a "component piece" as is your turntable, cassette player, reel to reel or CD player. Connect it as you would any other component piece of stereo equipment. Set up your recorder to "record" in real time(not high speed or synch record). Your tape recorder records anything that is playing through your reciever to your speakers. So, treat your "CD" recorder as you would a "CASSETTE TAPE" recorder. Play your vinyl record on your turntable and record to CD on your CD recorder ! Pay special attention to the dubbing speed, you will not use "synch or high speed !! Good Luck

I had this happen a lot on my Pioneer PDR-509, which is pretty much the same machine, when using marginal mongrel-brand CDR's. It's annoying but I have seen nothing to explain or detect it in real time so something can be re-recorded.

Set the timer to record

Do you have the remote which came with it? Most VCRs of the last 10 years require the remote to setup a timed record, or for that matter, most of the advanced functions- beyond play/rewind/ffwd, etc.

Assuming you do have the remote, and the correct time is set, and the timed record properly setup, some VCRs require a the On-Timed-Record button to be pushed. This sets the VCR in a wait mode, until the time set for the recording to begin.

Consult your owners manual- an online manual may be available if the printed one is missing.

Leaves blank TV screen when Return button operated

It sounds as though the unit is actually recording a DVD, but is getting no incoming signal to record. What is your recording source? Satellite and receiver? Antenna? Cable box? In the set-up menu, be sure you have chosen the proper input source; i.e., recording from where? You may be able to access that menu through the Function button on the remote, AFter setting that menu, be sure to press Return to restore the recorder to the ready mode. If you are using the RF input for recording, be sure that is selected as well, as opposed to L1 or L2. The input channel must match the output channel on your receiver, usually channel 3 or four. What is the model number?

No sound coming through when recording from hi fi tape to computer

This is actually simple to do. Connect the line out on your tape player to the line in on your computer. Then download a free program, from the net called Audacity at http://audacity.sourceforge.net/. The program is totally free and works great. Some recording studios use this program. In the middle of the main Window on Audacity set it to record from Line in. This is from the small drop down menu next to the little microphone icon. Then hit the record button on Audacity and play your tape. You can record each song individually or you can record the whole side of the tape at once and separate the tracks when you save them. You can even use this program to clean up the sound on your recordings. I have transferred many of my tapes and records to CD using this process. I hope I have been helpful and good luck
