Hi Mitchell.

Please validate the following:

  • The cartridge you put is an original HP cartridge and it suits your printer model.
  • You've removed the protective strip off the cartridge before putting it inside your printer.
  • You didn't mistakenly mixed up the color and black cartridges. (Please note: LEFT - Color; RIGHT - Black)
  • Both cartridges sit tightly in their places.
  • The color cartridges is nor empty.
  • The CARRIAGE moves freely and is not jammed. (ANYWAY - Follow the instructions here).
More troubleshooting and information can be found here.
Good luck,
Pelu.

Upon boot up, it doesn't complete, screen goes black, then message firmware error appears.

  • Do an NVRAM reset. Press and hold 6, 7, 8 upon boot up.
  • Boot up printer without network cable, fax line and options, see if error comes up.
  • Get the exact error message.

If problem continues, printer will probably require service. Contact Lexmark technical support(under warranty) or local authorized service provider for professional assistance.

Error message:right (color) carthridge missing

Maybe the cartridge is not seated well in the cartridge carrier or just needs cleaning. Follow the instructions on this link to the Lexmark website on How to Clean the Print Cartridge Nozzles and Contacts Manually. If this doesn't help yet your cartridge is a genuine Lexmark cartridge, I suggest you contact Lexmark Technical Support for further assistance. Genuine Lexmark cartridges shouldn't cause you that much trouble.

Cannot print, scan or copy. Continue to receive

Hi,
Solution
  1. Remove and then reinsert the cartridge indicated in the error message.
  2. If the error is still displayed, clean the contacts. Click here to see how.
  3. If the error message is Error. Remove and Check Black or Photo Cartridge , the following steps may help:
    1. Remove both cartridges, lower the latches, and close the printer access door.
    2. Turn off the unit by pressing the On button on the front panel. Wait for the printer to completely shut down.
    3. Turn the printer back on by pressing the On button.
    4. When the message display reads Insert Print Cartridges , open the access door and replace the cartridges.
  4. If neither of the steps above fixed the problem, either the cartridge or the printer is faulty.5. Replace Cartridge. Please rate my response!!!Thanks,SF

Empty ink error message

Hi, its sad to say but the printer sounds that needed to be send to the nearest service center in your area. You already reseat & replace the ink cartridge and issue still present. Please call your printer manufacturer so that they can give you more options aside from sending it to service center. Thank you so much,

Tirzo
