If this is an lcd projector, make sure the ribbon cables to the main board are seated all the way and you can flash the latest software to upgrade the software. It doesn't matter if your software is current, it could be corrupted---do it again.

Laptop on, presentation loaded, projector funtioning and will show menu on projector screen but no presentation will display. What else do I need to do, please?

You may have to adjust the resolution your notebook is displaying at in order to make it compatible with the resolutions that will work with your scanner.

For example, most new notebooks display at 1380x760 or 1440x900, which are 16:9 ratios most suitable for movies.

Most projectors display at resolutions with ratios of 4:3, like 1024x768.

For Windows, right-click on a clear area of the Desktop and choose Properties... or Screen Resolution. Change the resolution to match your projector.

Laptop display will not project onto screen

A couple of possibilities...

Connect a separate monitor to your laptop and verify that your laptop's external monitor port is functioning properly.
If yes, connect and power up the LP120. Press the source key on keypad. You should see the projector switch from video to computer.
Last option, does the projector display an "out of range" message on the screen. If so, reduce your laptop resolution to 1024 x x768.

Here how you can connect a computer running windows vista to projector or other external display.
  1. Open Personalization window by right clicking on empty desktop and choose "Personalize",
  2. In the Tasks list click on "Connect to a projector or other external display" link,
  3. The Windows Mobility Center appears, in the presentation settings box click the turn on button to turn on projector,
  4. Now your screen will show up on projector screen around large display as well as your own computer screen,
  5. If you want to change the presentation options click the Projector icon inside presentation setting box,
  6. The Presentation Settings Windows appears, if you turned on the projector the "I am currently giving a presentation" checkbox is selected,
  7. When you are giving a presentation your computer stays awake, system notification are turned off and by default the screensaver is turned off,
  8. You can also set the system volume to show different windows wallpaper in the one you usually use, when the presentation ends and you turn off the projector your regular desktop wallpapers returns,
  9. If you are not sure what displays are connected click "Connected displays..." button on bottom of existing window.

I wanted to use power point on my tosbhiba lap top ,with the benq projector.i hooked it up and my montor went black but i can still the program on the projector screen what now?

You were succesful

Now run the powerpoint presentation as you would on a normal screen.

Most laptops also have the ability to run both displays at once and you may want to check out that ability too if you are having problems operating on a large display.

I usually use a wireless laser pointer presenter that operates as a mouse so that I can wander while using presentations.

Need to connect my dell laptop to a large screen projector using a computer video interface for vga and compatible computers I have a delllatitude d610 the interface is an inline2080

I assume you know how to connect the VGA cable and which function key is used to activate the second display. You will have problems if the laptop display size is not supported by the projector. Many older projectors will not work with wide screen laptops.
when you connect the projector, Just press the presentation mode on your keyboard, Fn + (Presentation Key), Sometimes F5 or F8!

Then you will see your desktop on the projector screen.hope this helps

Need to see display on both laptop and projector

On most laptops pressing the Fn key plus the F5 key (in your model laptop) several times will cause the video to switch to different options
In the various laptops I've used with data projectors it is the same.
If you plug in the data projector and power it up then the laptop then the Windows image will be on the data projector (provided the laptop's screen resolution matches the data projector).
To toggle between the data projector only, the LCD screen, then LCD screen plus data projector, and or back through this sequence, just press the Fn key and the F5 key to get the displays you want .

Delay/ whitescreen when projecting video from laptop

1.
Connect the external display port on your laptop computer to the projection system, and then turn on the projector. For information about connecting external devices to your laptop, see the documentation for your laptop computer.
1.
Set the display resolution of your laptop computer to match the resolution of the projector system. First, on your laptop, open the Display Properties dialog box by using the Display icon in Control Panel, and click the Settings tab. Then, in Screen resolution area, move the slider to adjust the display resolution of your laptop. If you don't know which setting to choose, try 800 x 600 pixels; this is a common setting for many projector systems. YOURS sounds like 640x840.
3.
If you have audio in your presentation, connect a cable from your laptop's audio output jack to the audio input jack on the projector, and then test the volume by playing a file that contains sound.
4.
Start the Player on your laptop. If you want to only display the Player on the big screen, and not the desktop background, maximize the Player or set it to play your video using the entire screen (full-screen mode).

Gateway laptop 450ROG video issue when using a projector

Honestly from the information you have listed it sounds like the issue is with your projector, not your laptop. If your laptop was having display issues it would be consistent on anything it was attempting to output display to, such as your monitor.

The projector sounds like its out of focus and possibly has a bad back light in it, I would suggest contacting the manufacture for a possible resolution.

Presentation mode is off...

I'm going to guess that you have a wide screen Dell laptop with a 16:10 aspect ratio and a default resolution of 1280X800. The wide screen is great BUT most presentation grade projectors do not have a native (pixel for pixel) 16:10 mode. Instead they still prefer a display input with a 4:3 aspect ratio like your old square CRT or standard definition TV. Why do they prefer a 4:3 input? Mainly because Powerpoint prefers to display a slideshow in a 4:3 mode. Because of this Dell, in their infinite wisdom, created the 'presentation mode' utility in an attempt to automatically convert the VGA output of your laptop from 16:10 to 4:3 on the fly. In my experience this is an annoyance at best and at worst can seriously impact the size and quality of the projected image.

The best thing you can do when you connect to a projector is ignore the presentation mode alert and manually set your laptop's resolution to 1024X768 for an XGA rated projector or 800X600 for an SVGA rated projector. This will cause your desktop to look stretched on your laptop but will give you by far the best projection image.
