I in installed batteries and set up my model wr601n weather radio. After plugging in AC adapter the batteries go dead and so does the radio even though it is still plugged in. Why are my batteries going dead and radio not working even though it is still plugged up? I have put in 2 new sets of batteries and it with both sets.

Hi, This might happen if you use the charger which did not came along with your device. Please check your adaptor for proper rating if it is the one which is not supplied along with your device and provide your comments back and I will be glad to assist you. Thanks

  • Hi Jambau2,

    Thanks for providing the info.
Please try the below mentioned troubleshooting steps:

    1. Remove the battery and just connect your device to AC adaptor and check whether your device is powering up properly. If it is working then it implies that there is no problem with your AC adaptor.

    2. Your device can operate either with adaptor power source or with AA batteries or Both.

    3. So if when tested with only the adaptor, your device should work properly without batteries. If not, may be your adaptor got some problem. Check your adaptor for proper rated output using a multimeter. If found defective then replace it by claiming warranty as your device is new.

    4. you have said that the device is working properly with the batteries which implies that the probability of defect present in your device is much lower.

    5. A defective adaptor can produce improper polarity for the voltage produced in it and if the same is connected to your device when battery is also installed in the radio, then it may discharge the batteries soon due to polarity conflict and so only your battery drains fastly.

    6. So the probability of having defect with your device adaptor is much higher when considering all the factors. So Please contact the vendor from whom you purchased the product to replace it under warranty.

I hope the informations provided is useful in solving your problem.
    Thanks :)

Nc6000 multibay battery does not recharge

Perhaps remove the multi-bay battery, and let main battery charge all the way. Then reattach multi-bay battery, and see if it's recognized.
(Will charge)

That is AC adapter (Charger) removed, then remove multi-bay battery.
Plug AC adapter back into laptop, THEN plug AC adapter into power.

[You do Not want to unplug an AC adapter from a laptop, with the AC adapter plugged into power. Could be a power surge/voltage spike. Unplug AC adapter from power, when plugging into laptop, or unplugging from laptop ]

Main battery charged, unplug power to AC adapter, unplug AC adapter from laptop. Plug multi-bay battery in, then AC adapter.
(Then plug AC adapter into power)

Resetting an eton fr-360 weather radio. it will not come on even with new batteries. how do i reset it.

I had the same problem so I sent an email to Eton's customer service, this was their response and it worked for me:
Please use the following procedure to reset it. Please remove your AAA batteries and unplug the rechargeable battery. Let the radio sit for 30 to 45 minutes, then put them back in. To play it from the AAAs press and release BATT first, then POWER. To play if from the rechargeable, first press DYN/SOL, then turn the crank for 90 seconds, then press and release POWER.

To charge the unit with an AC adapter, plug in the AC adapter, press the DYN/SOL button and make sure that it reads SOL/DYN in the lower right corner of the display. Let it charge for about 8 hours. Make sure that it still says SOL/DYN and press the POWER button. It should play for about 5 to 6 hours, depending on the volume.

What tip polarity do I use to connect an after market charger?

The short answer is "The tip should be set to positive (+).

I found an old Vector VEC127Y Spotlight. It appeared to be in perfect condition but the battery was dead and there was no charger. I was able to buy a replacement battery at BatteriesPlus for $21 USD. Here is the link for the battery
REPLACEMENT VECTOR VEC127Y BATTERY
I also purchased a Universal A/C adapter to use as a charger at BatteriesPlus for $17 USD. Their site does not list it yet but here is the manufacturers link. Please note the original battery was rated 6Ah. The replacement is only rated for 5Ah. Which means one less Amp hour (Ah). Which means a shorter run time, after charging, than the original battery had. Otherwise they are equal.
UNIVERSAL AC ADAPTER
I installed the new battery. I set the AC Adapter to 6V and installed the largest of the seven adapter tips that came with the charger, with TIP set to be positive (+). I opened the battery compartment of the spotlight and disconnected both the red (positive +) and black (negative -) battery leads from the battery. I then plugged the adapter tip of the Universal AC Adapter into the spotlight and plugged the AC Adapter plug to a power outlet. With a multimeter I tested the polarity of the spotlight battery leads while charging. I was able to confirm that the Adapter TIP should be set to positive (+). After reconnecting the spotlight battery leads and setting the AC Adapter to charge, I have a perfectly great spotlight in full working order.

WR-100 recieves fine with batteries but has nothing but static when plugged in

Check the back of the radio and make sure that the AC adapter is plugged in to an outlet that has the correct voltage for the radio to have power. Make sure that it is plugged into the DC jack securely.

Laptop battery not charging wanna know how to run without battery

The problem you described here shows that, the case is not likely to be a battery problem, but the laptop AC-Adapter (Charger) problem, because, the red light you are seeing shows that your battery has rundown, and even when you plug-in the adapter to AC, it still blinks red, showing that the AC-Power is not charging it. I would suggest that you get another Laptop AC-Adapter (The Charger), or try it with a friend's own first, then you'll see that the problem might not be with your battery but your AC-Adapter

Vector VEC438 AM/FM/Weather Radio my AC adapter

I have one of these too. Here is the information, in case you don't still have the adapter.
Ktec
Model KA12D090050034U
Input 120V AC 60Hz 95mA
Output 9V DC 500 mA

The inner part of the plug is the positive side.

Try googling the model number above. I did and found several sources. If you still have the adapter and only the power supply itself is bad (but the plug is still good), you may be able to splice on another 9 volt DC adapter, as long as the power output is 500 mA or greater. If you go this route, make sure to check the polarity before plugging it into the radio.

WR-100 WEATHER RADIO

The WR-100 is slightly smarter than the average basic weather radio and therefore has a fair amount of programming loaded into it's firmware. (for good or bad)

It's not impossible for a power failure or spike to cause the internal processor to become confused every once and a while.

You may need to perform a full reset.

Remove the power adapter, remove the batteries and then press and hold the "WEATHER / SNOOZE" bar to bleed off any remaining charge in the capacitors and then plug the AC adapter back in.

Install fresh or known good batteries.

You've now essentially "rebooted" your radio and hopefully it will now function correctly again.

The only drawback is that you will have to reset any custom programming. As nifty as SAME technology is, I rarely use the function.
