Hi,

It sounds like the compressor is not starting back up...
Check out this tip that I wrote about that... it is a great place to start trouble shooting your unit...and something that you can do rather then calling a repair person to do a simple thing for you...

Laptop (and PC) overheating

If you have gas heat. dust, smoke, use perfumes, have pets, cook or generally live at all you have all the factors that will cause your laptop to overheat. When it overheats it will run slow or you can have a lot of blue screens or unpredictable performance or issues. In other words it gets very annoying. What happens is that the dust is pulled inside and sticks to the cooling parts. The cooking oil vapor or perfume oils make them stick even more. So eventually this dust starts to form enough of a layer (and it isn't that much of one) to insulate the cooling parts from the cooling air and the result is it overheats. So instead of getting a new laptop or spending $50 to get it cleaned every 6 month to a year here is what you do. The bottom of your laptop should never feel hot and the air coming out should never feel more than slightly over room temp. If either seem warmer time to clean. How often you clean depends on your house. It may be every few months to every year or longer.

You need a can of compressed air usually sold at computer shops as keyboard cleaners. You need a few thin pieces of something like wire. You really want something stiff and preferably something plastic but wire will work. Remove the battery and set it aside. turn the laptop upside down and place on the table (outside is good if it turns out to be really bad). Look for the cooling fan. You will see the blades hidden under a grill. You then insert a wire into each fan. This will stop the fan from spinning when you blow air across it. The air can spin it faster than it should and cause bearing damage. Use the compressed air and blow air in from the exits first. The will loosen things. Then blow in over the fan. You just need to give it a few seconds each way. Don't be surprised if all the dust you see is a small puff and that's it. It takes very little to cause some laptops to overheat. As an example of how little if you have ever seen a smoker puff out that is way more than what you will see. Take the stop wires out of the fans put the battery back in and you are done. You should immediately notice the difference in temperature.

Frigidaire AC window unit, model fam185r2a (18,500 BTU) only cools for a few minutes before it cycles off and just fan blows. Then a few min later cool air cycles back on. Is this a thermostat issue?

The window units normally have a sensor thats attached to the front of the indoor coil. This controls the thermostat. I usually pull this sensor away from the coil because it stops cooling before the room is cool. It is attached to the cold coil so it senses the coil temp, not the room temp. You can normally see it when you remove the air filter. Don't break it! It may be a wire or small copper tube

5 yr old tv goes through cycle and tries to come on, eventually does but after many tries.

My sony did almost the exact same thing. I removed the bulb & cleaned all the dust out of the cooling ducts & the screen on the bulb was full of dust. That bought me about a month, then I replaced the bulb & haven't had a problem since(over a year ago). Just make sure you NEVER touch the glass of the new bulb with your hands, oil on your skin will greatly shorten the bulb life! I found a bulb at a local electronics store for under $200.00... don"t forget to clean dust from cooling ducts,& make sure cooling fan is working, bulb gets extremely hot!

This may be caused by poor ventilation or the vents may be blocked."

"If this happens:

· Check to see if the vents are blocked. If the vents are dusty, vacuum the vents to remove the dust.

· If the PS3 system is in an enclosed area like a bookshelf or entertainment center, move it to a more open area.

· Leave the PS3 system off for 30 minutes to let it cool down.

· If you continue to have issues, you will have to send the system in for service." Hope this will help...

Our Amanda refrigerator/freezer has been making noises on and off (buzzing) over the past two months, in particular the bottom freezer. Today everything started to melt and the buzzing is frequent every...

It sounds like your evaporator fan motor, they last about 4-5 years. Try to see if the buzzing noise comes from the motor, usually in the freezer compartment behind a vented cover plate

The freezer is usually cooled by the compressor, the fridge is then cooled by an evaporator fan motor ($30). If this fan seizes or slows down then the fridge warms up (it sometimes starts squealing before this happens). It could be that your drain hose is clogged or frozen. Maybe the temperature adjuster go bumped.

If you think it is the evaporator fan motor:
Check to be sure you can get a replacement fan first, they last about 4 - 5 years. Can get from a parts supplier or electric motor company.
UNPLUG fridge. Located usually in top of freezer behind a vented cover plate. Remove cover, remove screws holding fan in, may have to cut wires. Replace with new motor, make sure the fan pushes air into the freezer area and doesn't spin backward drawing air from the freezer area.

Refrigerator cools as normal. Trips 15 AMP circuit breaker.

a full size refrige has to be on a 20 amp circuit, a 15 amp is just not big enough.. you should also know that this circuit has to be on a 12-2 gauge wire.. I also highly recommend installing a 20 amp HD receptacle

CDT00 Drying takes ages, water tank does not fill

check all seals are clear and free from dirt, also there will be a heat exchanger (usually located above the sump) this must be clean and free from dirt this does all the work so if the area is not clean it will take longer to dry.
