I go to print on the Canon PIXMA iP1800 as well, and the paper gets chewed up also. I think maybe there must be something stuck in there, but I haven't the foggiest of how you're supposed to un-jam it, because the problem seems to be out of reach.

Where is the cancel button?

Most printers don't have a cancel button. You get to "cancel" by going into your computer START menu then selecting CONTROL PRINTER then select CANCEL PRINT JOBS. In the future, I found the safest way to avoid accidentally printing more than intended is to always select "Current Page" when ordering a print job.
I hope that helps.

Epsom stylus sx610fw insists there is a paper jam - none to see, but will chew up ordinary paper when working. is there any way to open it up more to look for torn paper that could be registering as a

Yes it can be repaired, but it will most likely take a sensor to do it, this is a common issue. I think the way it works is it senses the force required to turn the roller, if the sensor or the chip it sends its signal to is defective a false paper jam is triggered and the printer stops printing. The problem here is with printers being so cheap to buy why not just replace it. The last time i got a printer it was free with the rebate, and it was a Canon "all in one" that was far better than the HP it replaced. Your decision.

Printer chews up paper when it is printing. Can this be rectified?

Step 1: Take half test page check is there any symptom what you are getting? If yes replace with another cartridge check...( How to take half test: Give fully mattered print command while printing switch off the power remove cartridge take out printed paper check the printed matter on page) Step 2: If found cartridge is OK, 95% suspected Teflon sleeve( a cylindrical sleeve which is coated grey colored Teflon), replace it if available if not replace with new fuser assembly..

Printing on premium glossy EPSON paper. It gets to the last inch and the edges are chewed and the printing is awful. It's just in that part on that paper. Everything else prints fine!

that sounds like a machine defect... if its new... go get it replaced... if its not... call a service tech... thats not an issue that you can fix...

HP Laserjet 4plus chewing us paper

This is most likely cased by a dirty paper feed path so it will need cleaning and blowing out. Make sure that all the internal paper guides and separators are free of obstruction. Make sure that the fuser area is clean that the internal paper guides are ll in place and operate freely. Also clean it with a vacuum with a soft haired brush tool to avoid any damage. Also fan the paper before using it and do not overload the print paper tray. Also check that the pick up rollers are not work or contaminated with dirt / debris etc. Also make sure that the print tray is not overloaded and make sure that the paper is not to tightly held by the tray side guide.

How do I change the default paper size from Letter to A4 in my HP Officejet Pro 8500 Wireless?

Don't set by using the "Print" option.
Go to [Start]
[Printers and Faxes]
right-click on the HP Printer entry
! Don't select "Printing Preferences"! from there
Select [properties]
Select [Advanced] tab
Select [Printing Defaults]
[Advanced}
(I know, the screen looks the same, but it functions differently this way)
Change paper size to "Letter"
[OK, OK, OK]
*done*

Printing to 4 x 6 paper

Hello oyam26,
For any paper mismatch issue, first thing you do is try to set the paper type to plain. This will fix the issue in most of the cases.

gud luck
