I have a Black and Decker Electric mower #M2370, which I would like to use this year before moving to a condo. Last year, the mower was stopping and starting depending on how the lever was positioned. I suspected the wiring so I removed the on-off switch lever. The wiring appears intact. Part of plastic inside the lever maybe broken. Can i use the mower without the lever by just pushing the black button?

SOURCE: Wiring compressor
The two terminal cap is only for the new fan motor. Connect the compressor wire back where you found it, on the 3 terminal cap. It's the terminal marked, "herm". The "common" terminal on the 3 terminal cap must still be connected to one side of the 220 power at the contactor. One side of the 220 goes to the common on the compressor. The other side of the 220 goes to the run winding on the compressor AND the common terminal on the 3 terminal capacitor.

You will have to have schematics from the old wiring diagram. Then you will have to confirm its consistency with actual old wiring before you can be sure that the wires run to the proper places on the old heater and a/c system. This sounds like a gas furnace and is simpler than a heatpump. Once you know what distinguishes the wires with the same color, you should label them and then you may call them a different color if they were wired with wrong wire colors. You may be in luck if you go to the furnace control box an look at the terminals.. They are usually labeled with a R for Red and W for white and Bl for Blue and B or Black. If you have other colors on these then it sounds that it was wired with wire spare wire by someone who knew what they were doing but neglected to leave a path for someone else follow.
You may be able to use a continuity tester of circuit tester to id these wires that are in question...
ie, once indintified, you can match with the requirements of the new stat.

SOURCE: I am replacing the a/c
Brown wire is Start
Yellow wire is run or Power
Black wire is High Speed or Common
The other two taps are speed taps, but you have a single speed application
And high speed is what you need ,that’s why there’s not any wires
on Red and Blue if high speed was to much then you would move the
Black wire to one of the other taps RED low speed or Blue Medinm speed
White goes to the Yellow wire from the capacitor
Black goes to the Black wire you took off of high speed on old motor
Of course both Brown wires go to the capacitor and Green to ground
If a capacitor doesn’t discharge it doesn’t mean it’s bad
but the capacitors don’t last as long as they used.
Any time you put in a new motor always replace the capacitor
It will save you a lot of time and grief later on.
