Question about GE WHRE5260E Top Load Washer

The tub nut keeps backing off. This is the third time. Can I permanently fix this problem? Thanks GE WHRE5260E1ww

I have replaced the nut (new) and used a spanner wrench to tighten it very tight. When I replaced the nut I also replaced the cone shaped bushing between the bottom of the basket and motor or transmission.

Thanks for the quick response. Thanks for the help, David

Have you tried tightening it with a spanner?

Try and make sure that any washers are flat before you start tightening up because that will cause leakage if they are not sitting correctly.

Washer makes grinding noise but isn't doing anything else

Remove the cap off the agitator, flip back the top of the console, remove any nuts keeping the tub in the console. There will be a clutch ring that needs to be replaced. I have an older top load washing machine. I agitates, fills, and drains, but it won't spin. It sounds like it is spinning, but it doesn't. It might be the coupling. That is a 3 piece kit that goes between the transmission and the motor. I found the directions how to do it over the internet, got the part and fixed it myself.

I have a ge tl washer model number whre5260e1ww and it's not rinsing all the suds out. One day I rinsed the same load of towels 9 times and still had suds. Any ideas?

How much soap did you use? During the final spin, your "final rinse" lets water into the tub to rinse out any remaining soap. Check to see how long it rinses for. If it is very briefly (a few seconds), there might be a problem with the timer or the electronic water inlet solenoid. The solenoid is what opens the valve to let the water in. Sometimes when they go bad, they won't let the valve stay open long enough to let enough water in.

I think that from time to time your water inlet valve is sticking and not cutting off. This can be caused by sediment in the water or wear on the valve. The cold water valve is the one which usually sticks. The valve is on the back where the water hose connects to the washer. Replace it or flush and blow it out and make sure the wire strainer is in the other end of hose.

GE washer Model WDSR2080D5WW Transmission shaft wobbles

If you can't loosen the nut, you can break it with a hammer and a metal chisel. Tub nut is cheap. Grease on clothes = new transmission time.
By the way, after you remove the inner tub,.... you have to take the entire outer tub assembly out of the washer, flip it upside down, remove the yoke that holds the motor onto the outer tub, and pull the transmission out through the bottom of the outer tub.

Big nut that holds tub and agitator in place keeps coming loose

Try to put some red thread lock on it. Red is permanent and blue is not permanent. I would use the red if you do not need to take apart again.

Good Luck

The 13/16 nut that holds the tub down keeps falling off

II suspect it is bad design, imagine that. We are having the same problem. After replacing the nut and using lock tight on threads, it worked two days and loosened again. My next attempt will be to "stake" the nut in place. This involves using a chisel and hammer to lock the nut in place by deforming the nut and shaft with a 90 degree dent. A second alternative will be to drill and install an allen head screw to lock shaft threads to nut.

Loose tub on GE WJSR2080V

Reach (or look) over the tub, just under the metal top, at the four corners of the machine to see if the rubber tab dampening straps are OK. (not broken) If broken, use putty knife to push in 2 spring clips at very top of front panel (a couple inches in from the L and R side) and pull to take front panel off. Remove two 1/4 hex head screws holding top to side panels. Remove top. (looks like your model has a lid switch which can be unplugged by the back splash.)
Also check that the inner tub does not rock independently of the outer tub. If it does, pull agitator and tighten large left hand threaded nut.
