Hi,
If you have a single stage furnace, you do not need that wire....if you have a two stage, then you cannot use that thermostat because it will not do 2 stage...

Do you have it programmed right? I don't know the colors of your thermostat wires but your w2 wire will be hooked together with your emergency wire they will be on the E terminal. you hook it up the same way you took it off but hook w2 and E together on the E terminal.

Thermostat Wiring: W2? E? Where to connect?

You have a heat pump. You need a thermostat for "Heat pump with Electric back-up heat". Make sure the 'stat has either an "aux" (auxilliary heat) or an "E"(Emergency heat) terminal. The wiring instructions will be provided with the thermostat.
