OK...i just fixed my itunes and firefox...everything is working FINE now


follow the link's steps http://support.microsoft.com/kb/886549 and for that last table i just left mine as %PUBLIC%. Just make sure the lines match.
then follow this link to uninstall itunes and its components http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/vistaprograms/thread/5f909d31-1b10-42a4-a820-af653061baaf/?prof=required.

you have to make sure everything that has to do with itunes is uninstalled then restart and install again.

If you have Norton antivirus 2003 installed ...turn it off..or uninstall it ...and after that try again ...if you do not have Norton ..this error is a cause of a wrong setting and all users registry ..and I will provide with a way to fix it ..   7. Restart the computer.

When I try installing Itunes half way through installing a pop up comes up saying- "Could not access network location %APPDATA%\." Can u help me fix this.


Please take note that the following steps is in assumption that you are using a Windows operating system.) As I have found out in the iTunes support in apple.com, this symptom may be caused by anti-spyware software preventing iTunes from installing correctly. One such application is SpyCatcher. Before installing iTunes, temporarily remove this software to allow the iTunes installer to complete.

If you are still having trouble installing iTunes for Windows, follow the troubleshooting suggestions described in this article.

General installation troubleshooting Important: iTunes installation is successful a majority of the time after completing these troubleshooting procedures. If one step does not resolve your issue proceed to the next.
1. Empty your Temp directory and restart
Windows XP:
  1. Choose Start > My Computer (or double-click My Computer on the Desktop).
  2. In My Computer or Computer, open the "C:" drive.
  3. Open Documents and Settings.
  4. Double-click the folder titled with your username.
  5. If you see a Local Settings folder, skip to step 10. If you don't see a Local Settings folder, proceed to the next step.
  6. Choose Tools > Folder Options.
  7. Click the View tab.
  8. Select the option to "Show hidden files and folders."
  9. Click OK.
  10. Double-click Local Settings.
  11. Right-click on the Temp folder and choose Delete.
  12. In the confirmation dialog that appears click Yes.
  13. If you are unable to delete the Temp folder, close all programs, especially those in the Notification area ("System Tray") of the Windows Task bar and repeat step 11.
  14. Restart your computer.
Windows Vista and Windows 7:
  1. Choose Start > Computer

  3. Open the Users folder.
  4. Double-click the folder titled with your username.

2. Completely remove iTunes and QuickTime
For Windows XP, follow instructions in Remove and Reinstall iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows XP.
For Windows Vista or Windows 7, follow instructions in Remove and Reinstall iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows Vista.
Note: Songs you purchased from the iTunes Store or imported from CDs are saved in your My Music folder by default and are not deleted by removing iTunes.
3. Install the latest version of iTunes
Once you have completed the above steps to Empty your Temp directory, Completely remove iTunes and QuickTime, and Clean up iTunes installer files on the computer, you can install the latest version of iTunes from http://www.apple.com/itunes/download.
Additional troubleshooting Make sure you have administrator-account access To install iTunes or QuickTime software, you need to be logged in as an administrator on the computer. If you're not sure if you have administrator-account access, contact the owner of the computer or your system administrator.
Get the latest Windows updates The first thing to do when troubleshooting an installation issue on a Windows computer is make sure you have the latest Microsoft Windows updates installed—to get the latest updates, go to the Microsoft Windows Update page.
iTunes and QuickTime software for Windows require Microsoft Windows XP or Microsoft Windows Vista with latest Service Pack installed.
Disable other conflicting software In Windows, some background processes can cause issues for other programs and processes. These conflicts can prevent applications such as iTunes and QuickTime Player from installing. Every time I try to open itunes it says "itunes stopped working and was shut down" I even tried re installing it with no success


You should try this:

Follow the steps below to create a new user account in Windows Vista

From the Start menu, choose Control Panel.
  1. Open Add or remove user accounts (If using the Classic View in Windows Vista, open User Accounts. Then open Manage another account).
  2. Select Create a new account and follow the instructions to complete the account setup process.
  3. Once the new account is created, choose Log Off from the Start menu.
  4. Log into the newly created user account.
  5. Open iTunes and determine whether the issue you were experiencing persists in this new user.

If still it doesn't work than follow the folllowing steps:

  • Remove iTunes Plug-ins
    Third-party iTunes plug-ins can cause many issues, particularly if the plug-in has not been updated to be compatible with new versions of iTunes. iTunes plug-ins are stored in the following location:
    C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\iTunes\iTunes Plug-ins

  • Remove iTunes Preference files
    Some of the files that iTunes uses to store settings and preferences may be unusable and cause issues. iTunes has two folders where preferences are saved. Move one of them to the desktop and test to see if the issue persists. If it does, move it back and remove the second folder. The location for the two preference folders are:

    If your still having problems estore using a new user account Create a new user account on your computer and try to restore while logged in as the new user. iTunes will download a new version of the software restore file. After creating the new user, log in to that account and open iTunes and attempt to restore to see whether the issue persists in this new user.

    Windows Vista and Windows XP
    From the Start menu, choose Control Panel. Open User Accounts. Select Create a new account and follow the instructions to complete the account setup process. Once the new account is created, choose Log Off from the Start menu. Log in to the newly created user account.
    When a restore issue is specific to a user, it is likely due to an unusable .ipsw file. The ".ipsw" files are what iTunes uses to restore your iPod or iPhone. If those files are unusable, then try deleting them so iTunes can download a new copy of them. Creating a new user will also cause new .ipsw restore files to be downloaded in the new user. You can find the ".ipsw" files in these locations:
    Windows XP iPod touch: C:\Documents and Settings\[username]\Application Data\Apple Computer\iTunes\iPod Software Updates (If you don't see the Application Data folder, you may need to show hidden files by opening (My Computer) Click on Folder Options. in that window click on the view tab, and make sure that show hidden files is selected.
    Windows Vista iPod touch: C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\iTunes\iPod Software Updates (If you don't see the AppData folder, you may need to show hidden files)
    1. Open Folder Options by clicking the Start button , clicking Control Panel, clicking Appearance and Personalization, and then clicking Folder Options. 2. Click the View tab. 3. Under Advanced settings, click Show hidden files and folders, and then click OK.

    After removing and reinstalling the latest version of iTunes, try restoring iPhone or iPod touch again in the origonal user account.




    As an added note, If running Microsoft Windows XP and the issue is resolved on another computer, but you continue to experience difficulties on your original computer, you may want to update or reinstall your Windows USB drivers and then try restoring iPhone or iPod touch again.
