Question about RCA RP3503

1 Answer

I just purchased an RCA RP-3503B cassette recorder. Everything works fine, EXCEPT I CANNOT PUSH THE RECORD BUTTON DOWN. I know the PLAY button goes down automatically with RECORD. When I open the cassette, there seems to be a tiny blue thingy on the left hand side of the "wheels." Help?

Thanks very much for your prompt reply, but I know all about tapes having been a performing musician for the last 40 years. The tape I am using is a brand new blank one, not a punched-out erase-proof tape. I never do that in taping my own stuff. More Help?

I know all about the tape-eraser thingy. I am using a brand new blank cassette tape. To repeat my question, everything works except RECORD. When I open the deck, I see a blue-colored thingy on the left side of the heads. Can you help me or should I try another person? Thanks.

My answer took awhile because I didn't make it clear that I knew all the basics of a cassette recorder. However, once I received an answer, it was exactly correct. Thanks.

Hi,

From the description of the problem, it seems that the "Accidental Erasure Prevention" tab of the cassette on which you are trying to record has been snapped out. (See attached image)

I just purchased an RCA - b7610cf.jpg
When a cassette with the tab snapped out is inserted into the tape unit, accidental erasure (and fresh recording) is prevented by a lever in the mechanism that keeps the RECORD button from depressing.

Kindly use a new cassette with an intact Accidental Erasure Prevention tab or place a Cellophane tape over the opening if the tab is broken. (See attached image)

Hope this solves your problem. Thanks for using FixYa

Many thanks for the feedback and sorry for the delayed response. Actually, there is some problem with the email notifications and the notifications are delayed.

Since you have already tried new cassettes with intact tabs and the problem still persists, it seems that your recorder need servicing. Kindly refer the servicing to a qualified professional or to an Authorized service center if it is still under warranty.

    Thanks once again.

Recorder button does not go down. . Is there anyone who knows how to fix this problem

There is an interlock that prevents accidental recording. You may have to press PLAY and RECORD at the same time.

How do you record on a Lanier p-164

Turn the main power button "on" first, it is located on the skinny side of the recorder opposite of the function knob. Press eject to open the cassette door and install a microcassette tape, with the tape facing the function knob side. close the cassette door and that should load the tape and allow the tape head and pinch roller to move into place for recording or playback. pull the function knob down or push it up to record. If you go into record a red light should come "on" the top, to indicate good batteries and the record function is initiated. After recording pull the function knob all the way down to rewind the recording, when you release the button the unit goes into the play mode automatically. Make sure that the button that reads (off--- vor/fplay) is in the off position.

RCA Boombox model # RCD158A - will not record

Hiya 2 possibles here:
1 - At the back of the cassette, there are 2 "tags", one on the left, one on the right. if those tags are broken out, it wont record. You put a piece of tape over the holes, that wll do

2 - If thats OK (dont know the beat box myself) but often you need to press play and record together

Hope one of those work!

How do I tape to tape

you mean to record?first, you must connect the other unit (if you are using two cassette)by using rca plug or earphone plugs.insert the plugs to audio in or aux(this is the unit that will record).if the other unit doesn't have the output audio, use the earphone out instead.time to record.the recorder must be set to tape/aux,(if you are using a unit with radio setting).then, push the play and record button at the same time.don't forget to put in the blank tape ok.then push play to the unit that you want to be recorded.the square symbol is for stop.the arrows pointing left ,rewind.pointing right, forward.the big arrow pointing right is the play and the button next to it is the record button.

How do i unlock a rca digital recorder model rp 5020a? I have tried holding down the menu button but does not work.

Hello,
Normally, by pressing and holding the menu button down will lock and unlock the recorder. Since this is not working for you, you can unlock it by opening the battery compartment on the backside of the device and removing one of the batteries and then placing the battery back in and closing back the compartment. This will unlock the device also allowing you to use the functions. When I took the battery out for a split second it did not erase my test recording, but leaving the battery out for a long period of time may erase anything you have saved. I just wanted to make you aware of that. If you need an owners manual you can click the following link which will open in a pdf format for RCA Digital Voice Recorder Model # RP 5020A. I hope this helps solve your problem.

If you would not mind, please rate my help. I would greatly appreciate it. Thank You.

Recording button can't be pushed down any longer

1. PlayStation 2 systems do not handle tapes, but CDs and DVDs. No wonder you have broken it if you inserted a tape in it.
2. There is no radio in a PlayStation 2 system.
3. On a PlayStation 2 system, the button with a red dot on it is the power button, and it turns green when the power is on.
4. You cannot record, especially not on tapes, with a PlayStation 2 system.
5. You usually don't play a PlayStation 2 in the kitchen, but in the living room since it's meant to be plugged in your TV.

Here's the diagnostic : you do not own a PlayStation 2 system.
You have been ripped off by whoever sold you this piece of **** under the name of "PlayStation 2 system".

I have a RCA Model RP 5016A digital recorder that i can't find a software for. When i connect it to the computer it won't play them beacause they are VOC files

Anyone who needs the software, just email me and I will send it. I can also send the user manual as a pdf. Together they are less than 800 K.

I tried to install the software on Vista and Windows 7, but it will not install. I copied the exe from my XP machine and it works fine.
