Question about RCA RP3503
From the description of the problem, it seems that the "Accidental Erasure Prevention" tab of the cassette on which you are trying to record has been snapped out. (See attached image)
When a cassette with the tab snapped out is inserted into the tape unit, accidental erasure (and fresh recording) is prevented by a lever in the mechanism that keeps the RECORD button from depressing.
Kindly use a new cassette with an intact Accidental Erasure Prevention tab or place a Cellophane tape over the opening if the tab is broken. (See attached image)
