First of all make sure you disconnect power cord and remove battery. Some screws on the back will be responsible to keep keyboard in place. In HP laptops screws are underneath the battery so you want to look there. Also undo screws form back near LCD at the top and try and take this video may help you http://www.ustream.tv/recorded/4248060. Good luck!

There is probably a faceplate on the front near the back where your power button and lights are. That will need to be removed. Most times you can "carefully" lift one side with a small straight screwdriver and gain access to where the mounting screws are hold the keyboard. Be VERY careful when removing or replacing keyboard. You have a ribbon cable which attaches to the motherboard that must be released. There are usually a small tab on either side of the cable and you "gently" push down which allows the ribbon connector to spread apart for cable removal. My suggestion would be a replace the keyboard. They are very inexpensive. I saw a new one on EBAY for $5.99 plus shipping. Its really not worth the hassle of attempting to clean these. Most times a key will pop off and they can be really difficult to put back on. Good Luck.

Keyboard dont type

No matter how careful you may be, knocking a cup of coffee or spilling a glass of soda over your keyboard may happen. This does not, however, mean the end of your keyboard. If you act quickly, you may be able to fix your wet keyboard to avoid any corrosion of its electronic components or any short circuit which might render it unusable. By following a few recommendations, you should be able to fix your wet computer keyboard.

Unplug the keyboard from your computer immediately after the spill to avoid any corrosion or short circuit. If you spilled water over your laptop's keyboard, turn your computer off by clicking on "Shut Down" on "Turn Off" in the start menu, unplug the power supply and remove the battery. Turn the keyboard upside down and shake it to remove most of the water from it. Take a hair dryer and set it to its lowest temperature setting. Use it to dry any water which might remain under your keyboard's keys. Wait at least 12 hours before plugging your keyboard into your computer again. If your computer is a laptop, wait 12 hours before turning it on again. For Other Liquids Disconnect the keyboard from your computer immediately after the spill to avoid any short circuit or corrosion. Turn your computer off by selecting "Shut Down" or "Turn Off" in the start menu, remove the battery and disconnect the power supply. Place paper towels on a table, turn the keyboard upside down and shake it over them to allow most of the liquid to fall down. Take a few clean paper towels and wipe the liquid off your keyboard's keys. To clean between the keys, you can also use cotton swabs with just a little bit of water. If the liquid which you spilled over your keyboard contained a high amount of sugar, such as soda or sugared coffee, you might have to remove some of your keyboard's keys to clean the surface under the keys with paper towels or swabs. You can do so by lifting them gently with a screwdriver or by using a key remover, which you can find in some IT stores. Wait at least 12 hours before using your keyboard again. If your computer is a laptop, wait the same length of time before turning it on again. Need help replacing keyboard of acer 5536

I found them on ebay in 2 seconds. Ebay usually will have whatever you need. I'm sorry to say that this may not be a fix though. Most likely yes, but possibly not. What exactly is your keyboard doing? You should also know that even though your computer is functioning now, if you do not get the spillage cleaned off the motherboard it will cause the board and whatever components it got on to corrode. It's possible that it may not have gotten into you computer but I doubt it. How bad was the spill? It is also possible, depending on what the keyboard is doing exactly, that you may not need a new KB. It maybe just a good cleaning or cleaning out the KB connector.

Coffee on key board

Hey,

You need to replace the keyboard. Turn the laptop off. Dry the keyboard. fully. Hopefully the coffee is only on the keyboard and there wasn't enough coffee to get inside the computer.

So if after drying the keyboard completely it still doesn't function.
You need to get a replacement keyboard.

I just bought one from ebay few weeks ago www.ebay.com see if you can find one for your model.

Let me know if you need anything else.

Thanks,
Ekse

Hi. I spilled coffee on keyboard ACER 9410 laptop. Now a couple of the keys do not work and screen jumps when I hit some keys on right side of keyboard. Can I replace the keyboard to fix the problem and...

I did the same thing. Here's what I did:
Took whole thing apart. Cleaned any coffee with q-tips dipped in water / paper towels. Removed the keyboard. Ran it through the dishwasher with no soap in it and heated dryer off of course.
I let it dry for a day and was bummed that now the whole keyboard stopped working. Well then 4 days later to my surprise / delight.. the whole thing started working again. New keyboards on ebay were also very reasonable. But mine still works perfectly after the dishwasher cleaning.

I spilled coffee over keyboard and now the keyboard is not working properly is there a way i can fix this i have left it for 24 hours and it seems worse

No, keyboards are too cheap to justify opening up a keyboard and attempting to clean it, especially if you drink your coffee with sugar, the sugar works at the etchings, and when you attempt to clean the traces, you wipe them away rendering the keyboard useless.

Why did you disable any drivers? Simply plugging in a USB keyboard would allow it to work. I fear that when you spilled your coffee you did more harm than just a 'sticky' keyboard.

Acer Aspire 5610 - one key does not work

Laptop keyboard are semi-sealed circuit boards. This means that liquid can get into the contacts and can not be cleaned. Depending on how much liquid was spilled on the keyboard chances are that the liquid has seeped around the edges of the keyboard and down onto the mainboard of the laptop. My first suggestion would be to keep the laptop turned off until you can remove the keyboard and check for liquid damage to the mainboard. If there is no damage to the mainboard I would suggest buying a new keyboard before turning the computer back on as any shorts caused by the liquid damage on the keyboard can cause damage to the keyboard controller circuit on the mainboard.
